Best Pokémon Types to Counter Fighting-Type Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet

Fighting-type Pokémon are all weak against Flying, Fairy, and Psychic-type moves. Fighting-type moves are not very effective against Bug, Flying, Poison, and Psychic-type Pokémon. So, in general, using a Flying or Psychic-type Pokémon against a Fighting-type Pokémon will give you both an offensive and defensive advantage. Keep in mind that some Pokémon are dual-typed, and this may change some calculations.

Here are some of the best Pokémons to use against a Fighting-type Pokémon:

  • Scyther- A Bug/Flying type Pokémon, which means it only takes a quarter of damage on Fighting Type Moves. It can also learn the powerful Flying-Type move, Aerial Ace, decimating Fighting Pokémons with ease.
  • Drifblim- Dritblim is an amazing Ghost/Flying Pokémon counter to Fighting-type Pokémons— immunity to all Fighting-Type Moves. If your opponent has Foresight, Driftblim will get hit by Normal and Fighting-type attacks. However, before they're able to land a hit on your Driftblim, you should have dealt a lot of damage already.
  • Gardevoir- Gardevoir is a Psychic/Fairy-type Pokémon that easily destroys Fighting-type Pokémons. With a high Special Attack stat, Gardevoir can one-hit Fighting-type Pokémons without breaking a sweat.

All Fighting-type Pokémon Strengths in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Fighting-type Pokémon moves are super-effective against Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark, and Steel-type Pokémon. If any Flying or Psychic-type Pokémon has one of these other types as a combination, such as the Dual Psychic and Steel-type Pokémon, Bronzong, they will no longer have a defensive advantage against Fighting-type moves and will be damaged normally.

Some of the best Fighting Pokémon you can consider for your party would be:

  • Toxicroak- Toxicroak is a Fighting/Poison-type Pokémon that primarily inflicts the poison status effect. I recommend being careful when choosing Toxicroak as it is massively disadvantageous to use it against a Psychic-type Pokémon.
  • Iron Valiant- Iron Valiant is one of my favorite Pokémon in the game. It's a Fighting/Fairy-type Pokémon, which has very high Attack and Special Attack stats. It's able to resist attacks from multiple Pokémon types. However, it is still weak to Fairy, Poison, Flying, Psychic, and Steel attacks.
  • Koraidon- The legendary Pokémon in the game's box art, Koraidon, is one of the most complete fighting-type Pokémon. It has high stats, plus another Pokémon type, Dragon. This makes it resist fire, electricity, water, rock, dark, and even grass-type attacks.
