When you want to stockpile gold for future rounds in Teamfight Tactics, it's wise to let a single unit fight in the first three rounds. Since the first three rounds are against AI rather than players, a few units can reliably solo these enemies nearly all of the time. This strategy helps you get an early gold advantage, potentially reaching 10 gold and creating one gold coffer before player combat rounds. Here are all units that can solo minions in Set 8.0 of Teamfight Tactics.
Which units can solo the minion rounds in Teamfight Tactics?
Necessary unit positioning
All ranged units that can solo minions must be placed on the D7 hex in order to survive. All melee units must be placed on the A3 hex. This positioning ensures that you get the maximum efficiency out of the unit and increases its survivability as a melee or ranged unit. While other positions may work as well, these are the two positions that have been tested exhaustively.

Units that can solo minions
All of these units have been confirmed by Wrainbash on Reddit, who has reliably tested this concept since Set 4.0. Here are all units that can solo the first two minion rounds, along with the items they need to survive.
Unit | Equipped Item | Hex Position |
---|---|---|
Ashe | Giant's Belt | D7 |
Galio | Giant's Belt | A3 |
Nasus | None | A3 |
Poppy | Giant's Belt | A3 |
Renekton | None | A3 |
Sylas | None | A3 |
Talon | None | A3 |
Wukong | None | A3 |
Every one of these units can solo rounds 1-2 and 1-3, but there have been no 1-cost units that can successfully solo 1-4 without a completed item. If you're looking to take a risk and solo 1-4, try equipping one of the units on this list with either the Warmog's Armor or Bloodthirster items. This improves their survivability and may be the key to victory.
