Fire Emblem Engage Level Grinding Guide

Whether you’re looking to get every unit on the same strengths or are in a hurry to class someone up, level grinding is something unskippable in Fire Emblem: Engage. However, grinding can be a bit of a slog. In this guide, we’ll let you know a couple of leveling tricks that worked for us.

The best & fastest way to level up in Fire Emblem Engage

Attacking and defeating an enemy unit isn’t the only way to gain EXP. In fact, one of the best and most consistent ways to level up, especially weaker units, is to set them as your healer. Use a staff to heal any damaged unit, even those whose health is at 90%. Doing so will net you as much EXP as attacking a unit as strong as the one you’re healing.

We especially like to take on those side skirmishes since the boss unit never moves until they occupy the spaces they can attack on. Heal every single member of the party before you kill them. Anyway, staves are unlimited and can be bought from the Item Shop on the Somniel for a measly 500G.

If they can’t use a staff, equip Emblem Micaiah and give them one. Micaiah can also give its equipped the Engage ability Great Sacrifice, which restores HP to all allies. This will net your unit EXP times the number of units that were healed.

Other ways to farm EXP in Fire Emblem Engage

Use the Arena

After every battle, you can visit the Arena. Here, you have three chances to pick a unit for a mock fight, netting them EXP. However, we only recommend that you use the Arena for units with offensive classes since they’re more likely to win skirmishes (e.g. mages, paladins, etc.). The Arena will grant them a ton of EXP if they win, but losing? Not so much.

Level up your bond with Marth to ten

At Bond level ten, the unit Marth is engaged with can use Mercurius (Sword) while in Engage Mode. When you attack with this weapon, the EXP gained by the user during that instance is doubled. Again, this option will only help offensive classes. You can instantly level up your Emblem bonds in the Arena for a fixed number of Bond Fragments.

Game over (only for Casual runs)

Fire Emblem: Engage has a lot of tough stages, but that’s why the game overs are designed to retain all the EXP that you gained in that battle. You’re more than welcome to take weak units into very strong levels and fight with them on the frontline. In Casual mode, a K.O. doesn’t mean the end of someone’s life!
