Why is Pixel Piece closed? – Roblox Pixel Piece closes for maintenance

Pixel Piece is down temporarily.

On February 6, 2023, at around 3pm CT, it was announced by WorldUp Studios that the popular Roblox experience Pixel Piece would be closed for maintenance for the foreseeable future. During this scheduled downtime, Pixel Piece developers plan to work through numerous bugs and technical difficulties discovered since the experience's release and bring it back "better than ever." When Pixel Piece is reopened, players will receive a portion of bonus XP for free, courtesy of WorldUp Studios, and all of their previous progress will be unaffected.

Why did Pixel Piece close?

According to a statement posted in the official Pixel Piece Discord server on the day of the closure, the experience was privated so that developers could "rework a few things and fix all the current problems [and] bug issues that have plagued [the] game." In the same statement, it was also noted that "testers will be working diligently to test for all bugs and ensure that the game will provide a smooth and bug-free experience upon its reopening," and that their "top priority is to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy a smooth and bug-free gaming experience."

Is Pixel Piece being fixed?

Over the past three and a half months, numerous update messages have come from the Pixel Piece Discord server from a variety of users/developers. In the month of February, most of the updates were small, check-in-type messages that didn't offer much in terms of specific information, but rather aimed to keep spirits high and build excitement that things were going well, and throughout March and the beginning of April, a few video showcases and teasers were released to continue building that hype for the experience's comeback.

It wasn't until April 27, 2023, when Pixel Piece's owner jandel (who was previously known for co-heading the popular Wacky Wizards experience) released a multiple-part statement that players received any concrete information regarding the experience's current status. In this statement, jandel addressed what his development team had been fixing and adjusting over the past three months, and what their plan was for the the future of the experience. According to jandel, this plan saw Pixel Piece rereleasing on May 10, 2023, with all of its bugs fixed, and then an announcement being made that discusses "future plans for content, boss fights, fruits and quests" soon after.

When is Pixel Piece coming back?

As of June 2023, Pixel Piece remains closed; the team was not able to reach their estimated May 10 release date, or their May 13 playtest date. On May 23, 2023, however, another announcement was made by jandel that discussed the experience's roadmap, and set a new estimated release date—Saturday, May 27, 2023. In this roadmap, it's detailed that Pixel Piece will receive waves of updates in the coming weeks/months, with Update 1 being the experience's release, Update 2 adding pirate raids, Update 3 adding a new boss, and Update 4 adding a new storyline.

Following this roadmap announcement, jandel posted the link to a survey that asks players if they'd rather have the experience be reopened now with no new content, or have the reopening pushed back until the new content updates are done and release it all at once. With a nearly 1,000 vote lead at the time of this article's publication, the option of releasing the experience as is now and receiving content later is likely the clear winner.

With how many times the release of Pixel Piece has been pushed back and delayed, and as another release date has come and went, it's unknown what the future has in store for this experience. If and when this experience reopens, Pro Game Guides will be here to cover it from start to finish, so be sure to stick around for any new guides/coverage.
