How to defeat Ranrok in Hogwarts Legacy

Why did he turn into a dragon again...?

If you're like us, then from Ranrok's violent introduction in Hogwarts Legacy, you knew that you'd be up against the goblin's twisted magic in the end. Little did we all know that Ranrok would turn himself into a freaking dragon during the final confrontation. In his dragon form, Ranrok is a significant threat that requires speed and precision to defeat. Fortunately, we've already brought the overgrown goblin to his knees and watched the credits roll. Here's how to floor Ranrok in Hogwarts Legacy.

How to beat Ranrok in Hogwarts Legacy

The Ranrok boss fight starts when he takes his dragon form using the chaotic emotion magic he absorbs into himself. He begins impervious to all forms of damage and begins throwing bolts of his magic at you from above. The first order of business here is to avoid as much of his magic as possible. It is a war of attrition that you must win to reach the next portion of the fight, which does not take long to reach.

After some time, Ranrok's magic will begin to falter, unintentionally showing you why he is impervious. Floating globes of his magic are absorbing all damage he takes. Each globe takes time to form, but once fully visible, so too is the shield protecting it. Like many shielded enemies through Hogwarts Legacy, these shields are color-coded to your spells. Cast a spell that is the same color as the shield surrounding the globe to destroy the first one. Doing so will make Ranrok vulnerable to normal damage, so let him have it with everything you've got it. If you learned Avada Kedavra from Sebastian Sallow, invoke the Killing Curse to instantly reach the next phase.

Phase two of the fight begins with Ranrok reaching 75% health. Follow Ranrok down the rocky path. He will reach the end before you, and begin spitting more bolts of magic at you. Dodge or deflect these and continue until you reach the next opening. Phase two is more of the same. Avoid his ranged magic and match your spells to the shields protecting the globes that will appear. This time, there will be two globes. Destroy them both, then lay into Ranrok with your ancient magic.

Phase three begins when Ranrok reaches 50% health. Follow the path to your right and you'll find yourself in a large open area with Ranrok at the center. Once more, Ranrok will barrage you with his magic. On occasion, Ranrok will unleash a powerful AoE (Area of Effect) spell. Avoid it by running in the opposite direction, and destroy the globes that spawn with your color-coded magic. When enough globes have fallen, Ranrok will be weak to your magic once more.

Upon reaching 25% health, the final phase of the fight will begin. Ranrok will land at the center of the area and begin barraging you with more of his magic. All of the mechanics from the previous phases are present here with the addition of a new one. When his globes spawn, they will only stay visible for a short time before disappearing. Destroy them before they disappear. If a globe disappears, it will reappear a few seconds later at a different location. This is a problem though because Ranrok will be relentlessly attacking you the entire time, making this phase much harder than the others. As before, destroying enough globes will make Ranrok vulnerable for the final time. Subtract the rest of his health with your magic, and Ranrok will fall before you.
