What does Armor Charge mean in Destiny 2?

It's always something new with this game.

Destiny 2 isn't a game for the faint of heart. There's a lot to take in, especially for new players. However, developer Bungie thought that vets should get a taste of that experience with their revision of the Armor Mod system. Now Armor Charges are all the rage. Here's what you need to know.

How to use Armor Charge in Destiny 2

Armor Charge is a pseudo currency that is utilized by armor mods. It replaces the previous systems of Charged with Light, Elemental Wells, and Warmind Cells. Now, there is only one system that Guardians need to manage, and with all the mods unlocked for free, there's no limit to the way players can customize their Guardian.

To utilize armor charges, Guardians need to equip two different kinds of armor mods. The first are armor mods that can generate the Armor Charges. These can be mods like Solar Surge (collecting a Firesprite gives you Armor Charge) or Font of Focus (collecting an Orb of Power causes you to gain one temporary Armor Charge). Now that you have an Armor Charge, you need an armor mod that utilizes said charge. These can be mods like Font of Endurance (you gain a bonus to resilience while you have any Armor Charge and your Armor Charge now decays over time) or Kinetic Weapon Surge (your Kinetic weapons gain a small bonus to damage while you have any Armor Charge and your Armor Charge now decay over time).

There are three different types of Armor Charges. Temporary Armor Charges are used for instantaneous effects. Standard Armor Charges are just that, the default Armor Charge. Decay over Time Armor Charges aren't used instantaneously. Rather, they have a 10-second timer in which they can be utilized. Finally, there are mods that can increase the number of Armor Charges a player can equip. These can help extend buffs or simply provide more currency to work with.

It's a much simpler system, and for that, it should be easy to get into. Armor Charges provide many different ways to play. For us, it's a welcome evolution of the armor mod system. With up to 10 loadout slots to save, there's plenty of room to experiment. Get crafting, Guardians!
