Creating your character is one of the most important aspects of starting in Diablo IV. There are various factors to consider, but one of the most important is your class. This determines your playstyle options and will be the character you look at throughout the game. This may leave you wondering if classes are gender-locked in Diablo IV.
Does Diablo IV have gender-locked classes - Can you change gender in Diablo IV?
The answer is no—classes are not gender-locked in Diablo IV, and you can change every class's gender in character creation. Unlike Diablo II and Diablo II: Resurrected, classes can be either gender in Diablo IV. This follows in line with Diablo III. This means you can play as a male or female of any of the Diablo IV classes.
Previously, classes in Diablo were gender-locked. This means you could only play as male characters in certain classes or female characters in others. With the gender-locked class restriction removed, it opens up more role-playing options. The gender lock on classes also restricted your customization options, which are now freer.
You cannot change your character's gender after character creation, so make sure you select the gender you wish to play as. You can make additional characters, but you must start from scratch. We recommend playing around with all the classes and seeing which gender's appearance you like most before deciding on your character.
