When filling out your Encyclopedia in Dredge, you'll notice that some fish and sea creatures are harder to track down than others because not only do they require different fishing techniques, but some also only appear at certain locations and times of the day. The Blue Crab is one of these, and if you don't know where to look, you may miss it. Here's how to find a Blue Crab and its location in Dredge.
How to find a Blue Crab in Dredge - location guide
The crustacean only appears in one location in Dredge, and it's in the Stellar Basin in the southwest of the map. Unlike many other creatures, you can't fish it up with a rod. Instead, you need to use a Crab Pot. And you can't just go placing them anywhere until you catch one, either; the critter only appears at a certain depth.
Head to map coordinate G-3, where the water will be between 0-5m in depth. Any deeper than this, and the Blue Crab won't be catchable. Equip your Crab Pots via the tool menu and place them down in any water below 5m depths. Now, it's just a waiting game until a Blue Crab finds itself trapped in one.
How to get and upgrade Crab Pots in Dredge
To obtain your first Crab Pot, speak to the Shipwright in Greater Marrow, who will gift you one for free. It's small though, so if you're wanting to catch a whole host of different crustaceans, you'll need to purchase upgrades with Research Parts in the Research menu at a dock. Once you've unlocked an upgrade, you can purchase it at the Shipwright.
All Crab Pots in Dredge and how to get them

How to check Crab Pots in Dredge
Crabs take a few hours to get caught up in your nets, so either go and rest at a dock or sail around to pass the time. Return to your Crab Pots, and you'll know if you've secured a catch if you see bubbling spots surrounding them. Interact with a pot, and a menu will pop up telling you which creatures you've snagged.
How to repair Crab Pots in Dredge
Each type of Crab Pot has a durability length, with some breaking in a day and some lasting longer. Once a Crab Pot is broken, it can no longer be used to catch crabs. This doesn't mean you have to go out and buy a new one, though! Simply pluck it out of the sea into your ship's cargo and take it to the Shipwright, who will repair it for a fee.
You can check how much longer a Crab Pot has until it breaks by either hovering over it in your cargo or, if it's already placed at sea, by sailing next to it and interacting with it.
