How to build Rafts & Boats in TotK (Zelda Tears of the Kingdom)

Set sail for adventure.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an open-world adventure that gives the player extreme freedom in exploring. One challenge I encountered, especially early on, was crossing large bodies of water without drowning. Using the Ultrahand ability, I solved this problem by creating rafts and boats to cross water in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

You can use multiple designs when crafting a raft in Tears of the Kingdom. But regardless of how you design it, you will need a base, such as logs, and a Zonai Fan. I am lazy and couldn't figure out how to make two fans work, but fortunately, there are simpler and more complicated rafts. You will need the Ultrahand ability to create rafts.

Instead, I attached three logs and placed the Zonai Fan in the center of the raft. Others have placed five logs together, with the two outside logs being slightly behind the middle three. Then two Zonai Fans are placed on the back end of these logs. After constructing your raft, strike it to activate the Zonai Fans and set sail.

If you lack a Zonai Fan but still need to cross a body of water, you can make a boat instead. However, this does require a sail, but those can typically be found near materials to build a boat. Place your logs together using Ultrahand like you would a raft. But instead of attaching a Zonai Fan, place the sail vertically on the boat's center. This type of watercraft will require wind to activate, so make sure there is a breeze, or you have a weapon that can generate wind.
