FF16 Electrum – How to get & use

Bring a sword.

After you’ve defeated the Griffin and finished the first Blacksmith Blues side quest, you’ll get access to a ton of new recipes. One of these is the Drakeslayer’s Belt. You’ll have most of its materials at this point as long as you don’t skip mobs during your travels… sans the Electrum. Here’s where to find the material in Final Fantasy XVI.

The Electrum is only dropped by a B-rank hunt monster called Severian. It’ll automatically be added to the board after the events at Drake’s Breath. Again, it is used to craft the Drakeslayer’s Belt. You won’t find another Electrum after this fight.

Severian is quick on its hover boots, making it very annoying to deal with. I recommend you play it safe and remain patient. If you get hit by one of its attacks, it’ll deplete at least half of your HP. Use Phoenix or Ifrit’s movement abilities to get close or far.

Only get close if you’re confident in your ability to dodge attacks. If you haven’t yet, master Precision Dodge on Clive’s normal ability tree. Severian also has a close-up electric field movement that prevents you from attacking it up close for too long. Remember to run away at the fight sign of it.

By the way, if you’re looking for the Gelatinous Mass to craft the other Drakeslayer’s item, the Drakeslayer’s bracelet, wait until the next hunt monster appears on the board.
