How to get Clean Water in Sons of the Forest

In Sons of the Forest, ensuring access to a safe and reliable source of clean water is vital for your survival. There are two primary methods to obtain clean water: collecting rainwater in a Water Collector and purifying Dirty Water through boiling.

This is how you can boil and purify Dirty Water in Sons of the Forest:

  • Equip your Cooking Pot.
    • Ensure you have a Cooking Pot in your inventory. If not, you can craft one using the available resources.
  • Gather Dirty Water.
    • Locate a source of Dirty Water, such as a contaminated pond or river. Interact with the water to fill your Cooking Pot with Dirty Water.
  • Craft a Fire
    • Find a suitable location to create a fire. Gather the necessary resources, such as sticks and leaves, and craft a fire using your survival skills.
  • Equip and Light the Fire
    • Equip a lighter or other fire-starting tool from your inventory. Approach the fire and interact with it by holding E to ignite it.
  • Place the Cooking Pot on the Fire.
    • With the fire now burning, access your inventory and equip the Cooking Pot. Approach the fire and press the C key to place the pot on top of the flames.
  • Monitor the Boiling Process.
    • Pay attention to the Cooking Pot on the fire. After approximately 30 seconds, you will notice the water starting to boil and emit steam. This indicates that the purification process is underway.
  • Verify the Lid Placement
    • While the water boils, keep an eye on the Cooking Pot to ensure the lid is securely placed on top. The lid helps maintain the purity of the water by preventing contaminants from re-entering.
  • Collect Clean Water
    • Once the water has finished boiling and the lid remains intact, it has been successfully purified. Interact with the Cooking Pot to put the clean water into your inventory.
