Diablo 4's dungeons tend to be very long. The higher level you go, the longer they tend to be, often sporting several randomized objectives that must be completed. In a normal playthrough, these dungeons are just tedious. However, playing on Hardcore completely changes how you go about them. The things you take for granted normally, are a serious threat on Hardcore. That is precisely why Scrolls of Escape are much sought-after items. If you're playing Hardcore, here's everything you should know about Scrolls of Escape.
Diablo IV Scroll of Escape, Explained
Essentially, Scrolls of Escape are items that allow you to escape harm's way in Hardcore mode only. They only drop on Hardcore and serve as the only real means of escaping a dangerous encounter. When used, Scrolls of Escape will teleport you to the nearest waypoint, meaning you cannot select an escape point. Additionally, Scrolls of Escape are very, very rare items, and getting your hands on them is easier said than done.
How to get Scroll of Escape in Diablo 4
As mentioned, Scrolls of Escape only drop while playing in Hardcore mode. They are specific to this mode due to how dangerous playing Hardcore tends to be. They can drop from any enemy above level 20, which means you'll need to have progressed your character that far without their angelic embrace. Thankfully, Diablo 4's early game isn't too hard.
What is hard, however, is actually getting them to drop. You see, while Scrolls of Escape sound amazing, they are actually incredibly rare when it comes to dropping. Just like with most rare items in Diablo 4, Elite enemies will have a higher drop rate but don't expect to see them often at all.
Scroll of Escape Diablo IV Best Drop Locations
There are no real specific best locations to get Scrolls of Escape since they have a chance to drop from every single enemy in the game. However, if you can find a dungeon with multiple Elites, you may be able to get one. Then again, trying to farm this item on Hardcore may be quite dangerous, especially with the Butcher still lurking about.
How to use Scroll of Escape in Diablo IV
If you manage to get a Scroll of Escape, it will go into your Consumable Tab in your inventory. This is the ideal place for them to be, as they will automatically activate upon disconnection or if you exit Diablo 4 while in a fight. This is a huge saving grace on Hardcore, as Diablo 4 is an always online game, making disconnects always a possibility.
Alternatively, if you would like to use the Scroll of Escape yourself, you can add it to your Emote Wheel and use it just like any other quick action. When the scroll is activated in this way, or automatically, it will teleport you to the nearest waypoint you have collected. When you reload the game, you'll notice the Scroll of Escape you had has now vanished.
