Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla – Mae and the Last Leaf

England has many quests for Eivor to find and complete in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, and a lot of them alter the quest a tad but not much. Where others can change the game massively, yet the game only gives slight hints in conversation about what will be a huge change to the world.

Mae is an NPC in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, who has a very sad World Quest. You can find her in the Ledecestrescire region, southwest of the Alcestre Monastery, standing by a tree. Mae yells at you not to come any closer because her father promised her that he'd be home before the last leaf falls from this tree, and of course, only a single leaf remains.

This World Quest is called The Last Leaf of Fall and is rather heartbreaking, but it is easily one of the shortest AC Valhalla offers. You find Mae next to a tree starring at a leaf that is practically barren. Interact with her, and she'll tell you a story of her father that he went to the city looking for work, but this was six months ago, but before he left he promised her he'll be back before the last leaf from this tree falls.

You have three dialogue choices, but choose whatever one you wish as the outcome is the same. Mae will stubbornly stay rooted in the spot and not move, with the pure adamant belief that her father will come home. Now, you have the hardest choice to make. This young girl has to move on with her life; she's spent the past six months looking at this tree, watching the leaves blow away, dreading the moment when no leaves remain.

In the conversation with Mae, the little lady mentions two hints that will make her move, the braying of her goats or when the last leaf falls. You can make two options here, which are both horrible, but one is worse than the other.

You can enter her house and slaughter all her animals, which is vile, as she's already devasted about her father, and without her animals, the little girl will starve. Or, you can shoot down the last leaf to harshly bring her back to reality, that her father is not coming home. No matter the choice, the World Quest will be completed, and you would have helped Mae move on with her life, but shooting down the leaf is the lesser of the two evils.
