How to Get Resources from Asteroids in Starfield – How to Mine

Easiest way to acquire minerals.

The planets and moons in Starfield have different types of biomes and resources. Players require the resources or minerals to upgrade and craft gear as well as for quest missions. While you can mine manually on land, you can also explore the asteroid fields in your ship and collect certain resources.

How to Mine Asteroids in Starfield

If you ever come across an asteroid belt, follow the steps below to mine and extract minerals from it:

  • Simply aim at an asteroid and shoot your weapons at it until it's destroyed. You can use the regular BAL (Mouse 2), MSL (G), and LAS (Mouse 2) weapon systems.
  • The bigger the asteroid, the more resources it contains. However, it'll also take a lot of shots to disintegrate.
  • Once the asteroid is destroyed, its separated Mineral Deposit will be marked by an indicator.
  • Get close to the Mineral Deposit, and press activate (E) to see its contents. The list will appear when you're within 500 meters of the body.
  • Collect the minerals (E) you need and begin mining the next asteroid.
