Best Nature for Spinarak and Ariados in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Help this spider succeed.

As a lover of Bug-types, I couldn't be happier with the addition of numerous Bug Pokémon in the Teal Mask DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Upon entering Kitakami, I encountered many Bug Pokémon just in the first areas. After catching the adorable spider Pokémon Spinarak, I wanted to check its nature before evolving it into Ariados.

Which is the best nature for Spinarak and Ariados in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

Select one of the following for Spinarak and Ariados' best nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

  • Adamant (+ Attack, - Sp. Attack)
  • Impish (+ Defense, - Sp. Attack)
  • Careful (+ Sp. Defense, - Sp. Attack)

My first choice for Spinarak and Ariados' best nature is Adamant. While these Bug-type Pokémon have bad stats, Attack is their highest. You'll get a nice boost on Bug-type and Poison-type attacks, especially with the Swarm ability.

However, you can boost their awful bulk by choosing Impish or Careful as Spinarak and Ariados' nature. Both options are roughly the same due to their weaknesses to Fire, Psychic, Rock, and Flying. I do not recommend picking a stat to increase Speed, as Spinarak and Ariados are too slow to make use of this stat.

How to choose the best Nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Typically, you want to look at a Pokémon's best stats when choosing a nature, but you may also want to consider what role it will play in your team. Considering Spinarak and Ariados' subpar stats favor Attack, you'll likely want to stick with Adamant.

You can choose Impish or Careful, but Ariados has poor bulk, so the stat boost is better directed to Attack. Still, it may survive a tad bit longer if you select one of the natures increasing Defense or Special Defense.
