Since Lords of the Fallen is another souls-like game, it easily gets compared to other souls-like titles like Elden Ring and another newer experience in the genre—Lies of P. Fans of these types of games have a lot to say in terms of which game they found to be more enjoyable or simply play better. While it may be up to personal preference to decide which is better, we can still look at similarities, differences, and overall gameplay to help us place one on top.
Lies of P vs Lords of the Fallen - Similarities and differences
Lords of the Fallen can very easily be picked out as a souls-like game because it is very much stuck close to the Dark Souls formula. It is a dark fantasy game set in a medieval-style world and features we can quickly relate to the classic Dark Souls, more easily than you might be able to do with Lies of P. However, the game introduces some truly unique features as well that make it stand out more, such as entering two different realms (Axiom and Umbral) by using your lantern. It also grants players more grace when it comes to fatality, allowing them to get a second chance upon death in the Umbral realm. Unlike Lies of P, you can also join other players in online multiplayer co-op, which definitely comes in handy for boss fights.
Unfortunately, Lords of the Fallen has quite a few buggy mechanics to sort out following its release, and because of that, it doesn't play quite as smoothly as players were hoping for. Dodging, hitboxes, and overall combat may seem a bit janky, which may make the combat less enjoyable. There are also occasional fighting mechanics that players don't seem to like as much either, such as ranged enemies shooting you from across the map or bosses being too simple. While some players enjoyed the intriguing map and concept of Lords of the Fallen over Lies of P, some preferred Lies of P just based on ease of play and difficulty.

Lies of P, on the other hand, featured a unique spin on the classic souls-like game, where players take the role of Pinocchio in a more Victorian-era time period. Just the time difference alone makes this game feel and play different than others, with interesting enemies, weapon stances, and a Steampunk-styled environment. Players preferred Lies of P's more challenging gameplay, requiring you to always stay on the offense, and encountered fewer obstacles in terms of play, less stuttering, and more satisfying combat.
Though players seem to have fewer complaints about Lies of P, there are the occasional comments claiming the experience can become boring quite quickly. Some enemies will feel repetitive, the environment doesn't leave enough room to explore, and the puppet storyline is just a bit too cringy. Players also felt that Lies of P was much too short of a game, whereas Lords of the Fallen offers plenty of time to work through.

With advantages and disadvantages on both sides, figuring out which game is better will truly come down to personal preference. Depending on which styles you are more drawn to, you might prefer one over the other. Plus, the experience you've had playing the game without running into bugs or glitches plays a big role as well. Which do you think is better?
