MW3 Zombies Minelayer Mission Walkthrough

Use the Energy Mine wisely.

Minelayer is a Tier Three mission in MW3 Zombies which can be tricky to complete, especially if you don't know how to find specific enemies. I had a tough time completing this mission, and have figured out a few methods you can try to make it easy.

Minelayer is a challenge you can complete after unlocking Tier Three missions in Act One Welcome to Operation Deadbolt in MW3 Zombies. This mission revolves around eliminating zombies and AI mercenary forces by using the Energy Mine Field Upgrade; here are the objectives you need to complete for this mission.

  • Kill 25 Zombies with the Energy Mine Field Upgrade
  • Kill 15 Mercenaries with the Energy Mine Field Upgrade

Before getting into the match, make sure to select the Energy Mine as your Field Upgrade. Remember, it has a medium recharge time, so I recommend eliminating as many zombies as possible in between the cooldown period. The easiest way to complete this mission is to look capture Infested Strongholds and clear out Mercenary Camps all around the map. You can do this in the low-threat zone, but completing these objectives in yellow and red zones fetches better loot.

The best way to eliminate 25 zombies quickly is to find an Infested Stronghold around the map and capture it. Check the yellow circle on the image above to see how an Infested Stronghold looks on the tac-map, then visit the Stronghold and start destroying the cysts inside one by one. You can lure zombies to your position and use the Energy Mine on stairs or inside rooms to eliminate them quickly. Be careful, as Strongholds tend to have a Mimic enemy and they are quite powerful in high-tier threat zones.

Unlike the zombies, eliminating 15 Mercenaries with the Energy Mine can be ridiculously tricky. I recommend searching for Mercenary Camps around the map, as these are the best spots you can find to complete this objective. Check the yellow circle on the image above to see how a Mercenary Camp looks in-game. Before visiting the camp, make sure the Energy Mine is completely recharged.

Once you are at the Mercenary Camp, clear out the snipers and camp in a spot to lure AI forces towards your location. Place the Energy Mine close and wait for the AI forces to converge. I completed this part of the mission by following this simple strategy and you can do the same.

Alternatively, you can hunt down a Mercenary Convoy and plant the Energy Mine in between the vehicles to get a few eliminations easily. Remember, you can complete this objective in different matches, so take your time with the second objective.

MW3 Zombies Minelayer mission rewards

After completing the Minelayer mission, you'll be rewarded with a Rare Aether Tool and +1,500 XP. The Rare Aether Tool will be stored in the Acquisition section, and you can only use it once in a match. Using this item instantly upgrades your weapon to Rare rarity, making it much better than the base version.
