Best Nature for Hydrapple in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

The newest evolution for Dipplin!

The Pokémon Scarlet & Violet  DLC brought with it a ton of cool new evolutions, such as Archaludon and Sinistcha. If you’re looking to add the newest Dipplin evolution to your team, Hydrapple, then you’re going to need to equip it with the most optimized nature and bring out its full potential.

Which are the best natures for Hydrapple in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet The Indigo Disk?

The best natures for Hydrapple in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the following:

  • Calm (+Sp. Defense, -Attack)
  • Bold (+Defense, -Attack)

Hydrapple is one of the slower Pokémon in the Blueberry Pokédex, so if you want to make sure it survives most competitive battles, you’ll want to tank it up. The best way to go about this is to increase its Defense or Sp. Defense. I would build mine Bold, just because Hydrapple’s Defense is already high, and pit it against physical attackers like Salamence. But Calm provides it with an overall more balanced defense.

How to choose the best nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Nature doesn’t matter very much unless you’re going to take your to PvP… or more difficult competitive battles like Blueberry Academy. Nature dictates which stat gets a 10% boost in growth rate and what gets a 10% decrease in exchange. There are also natures that neither boost nor stunt any stat, like Hardy and Docile.

Best moveset for Hydrapple in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Below is the best moveset for Hydrapple in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet:

  • Nasty Plot
  • Giga Drain
  • Fickle Beam
  • Earth Power

Since Hydrapple has a naturally high Special Attack stat (120), it makes sense to double that with Nasty Plot. Hydrapple will likely live whatever attacks are thrown at it, and it can heal up with Giga Drain. Fickle Beam isn't the most reliable move, but it has a 30% chance of doubling in power (same chance as a Scald burn). Earth Power is necessary to hit Heatran, who would normally wall out Hydrapple.
