While much of Palworld is about adventure and exploration, you also need a great base to build from. Read on to find out the best starting locations for your base in Palworld.
Where are the best starting locations in Palworld
Plateau of Beginnings
A: Coordinates 230, -510
You’ll find loads of low-level Pals around this starting location, as well as plenty of trees, rocks, and Paldium. It’s not easy to navigate, as there are lots of cliffs and hills. This also restricts base building a little, but early on, this isn’t much of an issue (as you’re likely to build elsewhere later, anyway).
It’s also a good way to learn the basics of climbing and gliding while setting yourself up high, making it easier to defend at range when those inevitable raids come. I’ve found some raiders will even fail to find a path to you and give up altogether. Or you can go find them while they’re static and pick them off at range.

Southwest of Plateau of Beginnings
B: Coordinates 160, -560
If you want to aim a little higher in terms of resources and building space, the peninsula you’ll find southwest of the Plateau of Beginnings is a great option. The area is quite flat, making it easier to build a large base with exactly what you want, where you want. It is also easy to defend, as you know any raids will come from the north, and you can plan your defenses accordingly.
It also has a better selection of different Pals close by, which means you should be able to get the right mix for the jobs you need to do. Something else to consider is that this area doesn’t have a fast travel point. This is quite a big deal because your base itself becomes a fast-travel location when you build it. So, having your base here also gives you a free teleport location in a remote area while you can still fast-travel to the Plateau of Beginnings.
The valley south of Small Settlement
C: Coordinates 100, -525
This location is near the Small Settlement, which is great for trading, as well as being close to area B (above), which is rich in both resources and a wide variety of Pals. What it also brings is a steep valley rising on either side, making it very good to defend as well as offering the kind of enemy pathing problems I talked about above with the Plateau of Beginnings. However, here, there is a good area of flat land for base building.
Whichever way you go, remember it is relatively simple to restart your base and go again, so you’ll probably want to move in the future anyway. Palworld is a game that’s all about experimentation, so don’t be worried about making mistakes.
