Wartales – Full Belerion Archipelago region map & locations guide

Set sail for adventure!

As a fan of Wartales, I was excited to dive into its first major DLC which added a huge new region to explore. If you’re heading out to sea, read on for my full Belerion Archipelago region map and location guide.

Locations guide and full map for Wartales Belerion Archipelago

If you don't know how to start exploring the Belerion Archipelago, I suggest you read through my guide on how to get a ship in Wartales. If you are new to the region, also note that (if playing region-locked) the battles here are mostly tougher than Drombach. If you've struggled there, be ready for some very tough battles here too.

Also, there is a pirate captain pecking order. You’ll gain a reputation by exploring, finding secrets, and completing quests. If you rise to a high enough level, the next captain on the list will start to try and hunt you down. This can be a very tough battle and can be hard to avoid, so I suggest doing the following as soon as you head off on your ship:

  1. Go to Per-Bast Island.
  2. Get all the blueprints you need from the Shipyard there.
  3. Build a Travel Post there.
  4. Make a save game on Per-Bast you know you can rely on and keep it maintained as you explore.

This ensures you can head back to the mainland without needing to sail if you aren’t strong enough for a pirate captain battle.

1. Knight’s Island

The trail of the Belerion Ghost Pack will lead you to the north of his island. But you’ll first need to pick up the trail on Per-Bast Island, just northwest of its eastern dock (see below).

Dock: You can repair and upgrade your ship here.

Brotherhood Training Grounds: As with other Brotherhood Training Grounds, you can do character respecs, learn skills, and complete rare weapon upgrades here.

2. Per-Bast Island

Dihya Heqet’s Palace: When you find Neith, bring her here as she is Dihya’s daughter. You’ll complete a Scenario Quest and also get the Ballista ship recipe. You will return here again once you have studied, built, and equipped the Ancients’ Ballista (see Belerion’s Tomb on Zawlin Island, below). It’s also where you get the final scenario quest for the area, but only once you’ve completed the other four.

Dock: Can repair and upgrade your ship.

Great Library: A locked room requires a Golden Key to enter (one can be stolen from the treasure chest here). Once inside, there is a self-contained quest (level 10 battle).

Per-Bast: This is the Awkward Poem quest hand-in location (market). Emran the Deceitful is in the Tavern (region scenario information). There is also a standard Tavern, Apothecary, Forge, and Market (hemp, resin). Plus, you can build a Travel Post (500g) here.

Rat Infestation: This is a standard rat infestation, as found in other regions.

Serpent Cavern: There are three mining nodes here, along with a treasure chest and a food pot.

Shipyard: Come here to find basic sailing recipes and blueprints. Can also repair and upgrade your ship.

3. South of Arthes (mainland)

Bandit’s Lair: Typical Bandit’s Lair, with two support units to defeat first to make it easier. Both are on the same land mass.

Halios Estate: You can get a Scenario Quest here, from Hector. However, he requires your ship to have the Akhedian Steel Ram equipped before he will go with you. To get this, you’ll need to go to Zawlin Island (7, below) and complete the Scenario Quest there which you’ll pick up at Shora’s Farm.

Pirate’s Camp: This is a defended location, but you can’t attack it until you have the quest from Shora’s Farm (see Halios Estate, above).

4. Southeast of Tiltren (mainland)

Cursed Village of Kervan: Largely this is a standard cursed village. However, if you save Khamissa in the Town Hall, you can recruit her for free (level 10 Spearman).

Smuggler’s Bastion: This small town has a Market of Wonders which, alongside the normal food, also has a random selection of animals to recruit. It is also the start and end of part of the Scenario Quest (Follow the Albatross). Completing the quest gains you 20 Scenario Points and the Spanker Sail blueprint.

5. Dyn Island

Belerion Prison: If you give the inmate Captain Esma 1 Rum and 1 Bream Tajine (or 75 Influence instead of the Tajine) she’ll give you a Treasure Map.

Carden’s Farm: There’s a self-contained moral dilemma quest here. If you decide to recruit the prisoner, Goddess, you’ll get a level 11 Pugilist for free (he has no Traits).

Dock: You can repair and upgrade your ship here.

Dyn Mine: Three Iron nodes to mine.

6. The Drowned Man

Inside the Skull: There are three Iron nodes to mine here but, despite appearances, there is no danger.

7. Zawlin Island

Belerion’s Tomb: The tomb has the usual puzzles to solve as well as three Runes and a three-part Codex.

Note that you will also need to come here for the final part of the Belerion scenario quest. You need to examine the catapult, which you can only do once you’ve received the final section of the scenario quest, Ballistics Research and have the legendary item Belerion’s Spear. You need to shoot the spear at the northeast wall. This leads to a standard tomb battle.

Once complete, pick Belerion’s spear back up in the next room and examine the Stone Tablet here to advance the quest. You’ll get an artifact to study (just one day), which will give you the Blueprint: Ancients’ Ballista. Learn it, make it, and add it to your ship to advance the scenario quest again.

Oris’s Arena: A standard arena setup. If you become champion, head to Ailean the Gladiator at the Cutthroat Tavern on Terq Island (17) to complete a quest and get some training.

Shora’s Farm: You can start a Scenario Quest here which involves a sea battle against pirates nearby, which gets you a map to the Pirate’s Camp (3, above). The reward for completing this Scenario Quest is the Steel Ram Blueprint, which you’ll need to add to your ship before Hector agrees to join you from the Halios Estate (3).

Zawlin: You need 50 Influence to enter the town here, to persuade them you’re not pirates. Otherwise, you’ll need to fight the guards and earn just under 100 Suspicion doing so. The town has an Inn (Emissary, hires, barding) and an Apothecary.

8. Tule Island

Rouste Field: There are two quests here, as well as a Forge

The first quest sees you help the workers (make two spears, chop wood, and give 5 Grease). This leads to a second quest that involves going to the beach on the south of Tule Island for a pirate battle. Go there at night, talk to the townsfolk, and a pirate ship will crash on the rocks. Select it to begin the battle It’s level 11 if region-locked, but some of the townfolk join you as handy cannon fodder. Afterward, you can play Rouste Ball here.

Sacred Tree: A Sacred Altar here requires you to give 1 Mead for a quest. Do so, then search the bushes to find an NPC, Echureth. Either attack or persuade him to stop his con trick to complete the quest.

Tracker’s Camp: This is where you can begin the Belerion Hunt quest, plus it has the usual Fang store.

For the quest, you’ll need to go to Per-Bast Island (2, above) to pick up the trail. You’ll find a body on the east side of the island northwest of the eastern dock that starts the trail. Follow the trail into the sea, then pick it up by boat and keep following it north to Knight’s Island (1). You’ll get a Saurian Brooch and its recipe as a reward.

9. Sandbar (east)

Siren’s Nest: This is the location of Neith, who you need to collect for one of the area’s Scenario Quests. Take her to Dihya Heqet’s Palace on Per-Bast Island (2, above).

10. Isle of the Dead

Cursed Village of Vennoz: This is a standard four-building cursed village.

11. Tebessa Island

Isolated Mill: You need to deliver a Souvenirs of Akhed here to gain a Belerion (legendary) recipe, The King’s Feast (and complete its quest). This can be bought in some of the Taverns in the Belerion Archipelago.

Tebessa: Market, forge, and Palace. This is where the young adventurers from the Shabby Camp (on Sarna Island) return to complete the quest here (in the market).

12. Sarna Island

Rat infestation: This rat infestation works in the same way as all previous ones.

Sarna: This town has a Forge, an Apothecary, a Temple, and a Palace. You need to trigger a battle in the Temple (which is also a quest) if you want to get the scared workers back into the stores but you can still craft in both the forge and apothecary regardless.

Shabby Camp: You need to give 5 Grease to one of the NPCs here and then talk to them again to complete the quest (you can then battle them or spend Influence to persuade them to go home).

13. Sandbar (south)

The wreck of the Albatros: You have to defeat a pack of saurians (level 11 battle if you’re playing region-locked, against 30 saurians) and then win a level 11 pirate land battle to get to the Scenario Quest items you need from the wreck.

Be ready though, as what you’ll find are contraband Plage Remedies that will give you 200 Suspicion and need to be delivered to the Smuggler’s Bastion (on the mainland north of Dyn Island, location 4 above). This is a lot of suspicion to shake off if you’re used to playing as one of the good guys!

14. Io’ch Island

This island has several rocks on it that one or three strong companions (high Strength stat) can lift to reveal things. This can range from nothing or food to molerat battles. It also has lots of plants for potions to collect.

15. Ferath

This island is only accessible once you have the Scenario quest from the Halios Estate (3) and you have made and fitted the Akhedian Steel Ram. Once you do, you can sail into the rocks blocking access (on the west side) and destroy them.

Wreck of the Empress: The wreck is defended by Sirens (level 11). Talk to Hector after defeating them and destroy the giant fang (you need a Miner). After this, you can read the diary on the corpse. Once done, pick up Belerion’s Spear (a legendary item, on the right of the same scene of the shipwreck). Afterward, you can recruit Hector and offer to take him home. Instead, you’ll end up taking him to Per-Bast Island to continue the scenario quest.

16. Isle of the Worthy

Land on the north side of the island, then head into the woods and repair the bridge (10 Wood required) to access the south of the island.

Castaways Camp: You’ll find a few nice items at this abandoned camp, including a rare level 12 Privateer’s Boarding Cutlass.

17. Terq Island

Terq: This town has three Taverns and nothing else. If you play as a bard in the Tipsy Saurian Tavern the owner gives you free Pirate Sheet Music: The Captain’s Beard. This is much tougher than the basic bard music but also gives better rewards if you nail it.

You’ll find Captain Sejem in the Lost Ewe Tavern. His crew are in the Tipsy. Take a side to complete the quest here. The third is the Cutthroat Tavern, where you’ll find Ailean the Gladiator. Return to him once you’ve won at Oris’s Arena (on Zawlin Island, 7) to complete his quest.

18. Maern

Maern Cave: A note inside the cave claims only one person knows the way through the labyrinth inside. You can ignore this and break through the wooden barricade to enter the Labyrinth of the Ancients.

19. Ghost Ship

Self-contained quest, plus locked draw (requires the randomly generated code from the Legion Letter item.

20. The Sea Serpent (boss battle)

This is where you’ll find the Sea Serpent, which is the boss fight for the Belerion Archipelago. However, unlike in earlier regions, you can only trigger this battle after you have reached 100 percent in the Belerion Scenario Quest. For details of the battle, see the link above.
