Fortnite has changed their control scheme more than once, and you might not be used to the new layout. We've got all the different ways to crouch in Fortnite below.
How to Crouch in Fortnite
You've likely come here for one of two reasons: either you switched from one type of system to another (e.g. PC to Console) or you haven't played in so long that the layout is changed. We're going to cover all the ways to crouch in Fortnite on every platform!
Console Platforms (PlayStation, Xbox, Switch)
Current Standard
The most recent control scheme for consoles has you toggle crouching by pressing down on the right control stick. In most games, this forces your player to sprint, but in Fortnite, it applies the opposite. An important note is that this toggles whether or not you're crouched. You need to press it again to return to the standing state.
Classic Version/Builder Pro
You have the option of changing to the older controller scheme or the Quick Builder controller scheme, which is more popular with creative builders. If you switch to one of these, the crouch button will be different. Instead of pressing the right control stick, you'll have to press the left bumper (L1 on the PS4/PS5). This will toggle the crouch status. To stand back up, press the same button.
PC
You're using a keyboard on the PC, so the control scheme is a lot different. Still, crouching is simple. To toggle between crouching and standing, simply press the Left Ctrl key. This applies to both the current standard and the old school control scheme. The key's location on the keyboard is shown in the image above.
You now know all the options to crouch. Stay hidden!
