All Minecraft Music Discs and How to Get Them

Mine to your favorite beats.

Every Music Disc in Minecraft

As of 1.21, there are 19 Music Discs available in Minecraft. Their primary use is to be placed within jukeboxes to play the sound they contain. However, they can also adjust a redstone comparator's signal when placed inside a jukebox behind the comparator. These 19 discs are organized from those with the least Redstone power to those with the most.

  • ID: music_disc_13
  • Redstone Output Power: 1
  • Length: 2 minutes 58 seconds
  • Listen to 13: YouTube.com

This disc is somewhat eerie, containing metallic sounds reminiscent of bells and ambient sounds similar to the game's cave music. The bells are mostly present in the beginning, with the latter part of the disc containing sounds of water droplets, gusts of wind, bows firing, and a hiss followed by an explosion and a splash. There is some silence between the two sections of the track as well as reverb, which potentially comes from the echoes within the cave in the disc.

  • ID: music_disc_cat
  • Redstone Output Power: 2
  • Length: 3 minutes 5 seconds
  • Listen to Cat: YouTube.com

Cat is probably my favorite soundtrack of the bunch. It's light and bubbly, with the melody from the beginning playing throughout the entire disc. As the disc plays through, new sounds are continuously added. These sounds include percussion to match the beat and additional harmonies that change the song into a slightly different aesthetic. The song would fit in with any safe refuge, like a home village or healing fountain. I prefer to have it playing in my home and other whimsical builds.

Blocks

  • Composer: C418 (Daniel Rosenfeld)
  • ID: music_disc_blocks
  • Redstone Output Power: 3
  • Length: 5 minutes 45 seconds
  • Listen to Blocks: YouTube.com

Blocks is an upbeat track reminiscent of an 8-bit game. The beat is very bouncy, especially as more sounds are generated in the track. Every six beats, the track's pitch either increases or decreases slightly. It makes the track sound consistent without being too repetitive.

After about two minutes, the beat fades out and transitions to a much slower, airy tune. Lighthearted, somewhat bouncy sounds are overlaid to create a comforting sound. Those fade and leave behind the long underlying tones. It sounds as if a large triangle is being played with the slight sound of the ocean beneath it. There is one final beat change around the 4:30 mark. The underlying notes are still long but more pronounced. The previously bouncy beat is more vibrant and direct. As the song ends, the player is left with slight twinkling sounds.

Chirp

  • Composer: C418 (Daniel Rosenfeld)
  • ID: music_disc_chirp
  • Redstone Output Power: 4
  • Length: 3 minutes 5 seconds
  • Listen to Chirp: YouTube.com

Chirp has a retro, Bossa-Nova type of vibe at the start. It reminds me of an old-school carnival, but it's really something you'll have to listen to for yourself. Two new instruments are added to the original beat between the 46-second mark and the 1 minute and 3 seconds mark. 10 seconds later, the disc becomes more subdued with twinkling triangle sounds added over it. Moracca noises are quietly added here, giving the soundtrack a much more upbeat and happy tune. This cuts out around the 2-minute and 50-second mark to end the beat on subdued tones.

Far

  • Composer: C418 (Daniel Rosenfeld)
  • ID: music_disc_far
  • Redstone Output Power: 5
  • Length: 2 minutes 54 seconds
  • Listen to Far: YouTube.com

Far is a calming track that sounds like someone is playing an angelic, synthetic xylophone. It has lots of echoes, as each melody within the song repeats itself a few times with similar lower notes played beneath it. It evokes feelings of being in a star-filled sky. This first part of the track reminds me a bit of Rosalina's Observatory in Super Mario Galaxy.

Around 1:33, the music shifts to favor string instruments in a similar but less celestial tune. It quickly transitions to a piano before adding in other instruments and bringing the previous celestial beat back in. It's a busier section, but feels like welcoming a triumphant hero who returned after a long battle.

Mall

  • Composer: C418 (Daniel Rosenfeld)
  • ID: music_disc_mall
  • Redstone Output Power: 6
  • Length: 3 minutes 17 seconds
  • Listen to Mall: YouTube

Mall is another very relaxing track. It starts off on a lower pitch but progressively gets higher and louder. Contrast is added by the inclusion of a faster melody beneath the original slower one. Drums are added beneath both of those instruments, becoming louder as the faster melody fades out. This turns the disk into something you'd listen to while racing through a vast Savanna.

Halfway through the song, the beat fades out to a quiet pause before resuming a similar beat. The drums are truly the highlight of this portion. Vibrant bursts of electronic music accent them to make the drums truly pop. When the percussion ends, the music fades out to a quiet lull before the disc ends.

Mellohi

  • Composer: C418 (Daniel Rosenfeld)
  • ID: music_disc_mellohi
  • Redstone Output Power: 7
  • Length: 1 minute 36 seconds
  • Listen to Mellohi: YouTube

The Mellohi track is like a darker version of a waltz. It keeps a consistent one, one-two beat as the base, later adding in a gloomy note that plays for one second straight, then takes a short pause before playing for another second. It's as if a melancholic violinist has joined the original musician in creating a rich, downbeat piece.

As the violin ends after 32 seconds, a poppy and vibrant electronic sound is added. The violin is reintroduced over this at the 1 minute and 3 second mark. The music becomes lighter while the darker base sound continues. At the song's end, the bass cuts out, leaving only the lighter portions.

  • Composer: C418 (Daniel Rosenfeld)
  • ID: music_disc_stal
  • Redstone Output Power: 8
  • Length: 2 minutes 30 seconds
  • Listen to Stal: YouTube.com

Stal is the jazz piece of the bunch. It starts off with a little percussion and a deep double bass strumming casually. A saxophone is added next, with a piano following soon after. A loud wind instrument is added at 40 seconds but leaves at the 1-minute mark. The song continues after this with mainly the piano until 1 minute and 28 seconds. Different instruments and beats are introduced, faded out, and sometimes reintroduced after this. It is truly a varied and enjoyable listening experience.

Strad

  • Composer: C418 (Daniel Rosenfeld)
  • ID: music_disc_strad
  • Redstone Output Power: 9
  • Length: 3 minutes 8 seconds
  • Listen to Strad: YouTube.com

Strad is soft but still sounds like it was made on a tropical island getaway. The main melody has a lot of upbeat notes that are slightly metallic and poppy. Layers of other instruments are added in, including a low-pitched percussion that keeps the beat and contrasts the higher-pitched notes. There is a unique sound added around the 2:00 mark that sounds like radio static and machines beeping and whirring. It's very quiet in comparison to the rest of the track but slowly gets a bit louder until the entire sequence transitions to the end of the song.

Ward

  • Composer: C418 (Daniel Rosenfeld)
  • ID: music_disc_ward
  • Redstone Output Power: 10
  • Length: 4 minutes 11 seconds
  • Listen to Ward: YouTube.com

Ward starts off with a low-pitched melody that sounds like it was played on an electronic version of an organ. Six seconds in, the organ cuts off mid-note and the sound crackles as if the connection was disrupted. The track then swaps to a synthetic melody that is both upbeat and dark. It is the kind of song you would find in the background of a dungeon crawler. This is especially true at the 1 minute mark as the song focuses on a bouncy, vibrant beat with underlying noises.

At 1:45, the track returns to the synthetic melody before slowly adding in the previous melody and some new sounds starting at 2:00. It continues this pattern of slowing down, adjusting beats, pausing, and changing for the rest of the song. This is particularly true at 2:50, where the song begins playing an entirely new synthetic beat that feels like a victory lap after a successful game.

11

  • Composer: C418 (Daniel Rosenfeld)
  • ID: music_disc_11
  • Redstone Output Power: 11
  • Length: 1 minute 11 seconds
  • Listen to 11: YouTube.com

11 goes hand in hand with the previous 13 tracks. It starts off with crackling static before cutting to the sounds of heavy breathing and running on stone blocks.

Ominous cave sounds can be heard in the background. There are a few metallic clicks like lighting a lighter, then coughing, more steps, and the pages of a book turning. The background gets louder, like something is coming towards the recorder. The breathing gets faster as the stone blocks are broken faster. The sound of dirt blocks breaking is disrupted by a distorted noise. All that remains at the end is static and a few small sounds as the recording ends.

  • Redstone Output Power: 11
  • Length: 1 minute 14 seconds
  • Listen to Creator (Music Box): YouTube.com

Creator (Music Box) is the first Minecraft music disk that is a variation of another disc. It sounds exactly like a music box with a ballerina dancing at the top. The sound begins with a short, winding noise. Afterward, the track is steady, with a consistent main beat and a higher-pitched secondary beat accenting the first.

The first 10 seconds of Creator feel like part of the Creator (Music Box) disc. Afterward, there is a sound like winding a toy that starts a much faster beat. It features an accordion-sounding instrument and a flute in an up-and-down tune. It reminds me a bit of a medieval street performance until 1:22, where a guitar riff joins the fray. It continues with similar tunes until the end, where it returns to the music box aesthetic until it fades out.

  • Redstone Output Power: 12

Wait is an upbeat version of the "Minecraft" sound. It starts with synthetic percussion, then starts playing the remix of "Minecraft" over the original beat after 8 seconds. It's a comforting sound that remains light for the entire track.

Pigstep is an intense, dubstep-style beat. It's loud, with lots of overlayed melodies and a bass drop before the melody changes up and gets a little louder. An instrument like a synthetic piano is added 46 seconds in. It's a loud beat that remains consistent across the entire track.

  • Composer: Aaron Cherof
  • ID: music_disc_precipice
  • Redstone Output Power: 13
  • Length: 4 minutes 59 seconds
  • Listen to Precipice: YouTube.com

Precipice begins with a chorus of bells. After 23 seconds, an electronic track begins underneath the bells. By 41 seconds, the bells have almost entirely faded out to put the focus on the new sound. They can still be head beneath the track acting until they merge with the track completely at the 1:05 mark.

The bells return around 1:45 alongside guitar riffs. It's a very energetic and upbeat sound that would go well with speedy Minecraft systems. It calms down around 2:51 and continues on the same beat until the music stops at 4:53. This one just might replace Cat as my favorite of the bunch. The way the bells' sounds continue even as they disappear in certain portions of the song is really pleasing to the ears.

  • Length: 3 minutes 15 seconds
  • Listen to Otherside: YouTube.com

The start of Otherside sounds upbeat and 8-bit, just like several of the other tracks. At 1 minute and 46 seconds, the tune changes keys and progressively becomes a darker melody. Lastly, the sound of a clock ticking can be heard before the track suddenly ends.

  • Redstone Output Power: 14
  • Length: 3 minutes 38 seconds
  • Listen to Relic: YouTube.com

Relic starts as static before transitioning into an upbeat, 8-bit-style tune. Within the track, melodies from two Minecraft Legends songs can be heard in the same style as the original tune. Bass is added to the track around the 1-minute and 15-second mark. It fits into the aesthetic of a retro game where you play as a hero, setting out on a quest to save the day. The music fades to silence between 3:23 and 3:38.

  • Composer: Samuel Ã…berg
  • ID: music_disc_5
  • Redstone Output Power: 15
  • Length: 2 minutes 58 seconds
  • Listen to 5: YouTube.com

5 is the last music disc telling a story rather than playing music. It begins with static and the sound of teleporting. Flint and steel can be hard, followed by a bat and walking. The walking starts normal but becomes heavy and metallic-sounding, as if an army is marching off to war. Breathing can be heard, then a roar, which turns into a relaxing melody. The melody cuts out into the sound of lava and the shrieking of sculk sensors.

There is coughing, metallic sounds, and the sound of teleporting. Footsteps on deepslate can be heard. Unidentifiable noises are heard in the background and only continue to get louder as the footsteps continue. As they quiet down, footsteps begin much more quietly. A sculk sensor goes off, and the scream of a Warden is heard.
