It's not easy surviving the elements in Frostpunk 2. Of all endings, the easiest one is when you're banished or the city falls in some cataclysmic way. But I imagine that's not what you're looking for. Here are all the successful endings in Frostpunk 2.
How to get all endings in Frostpunk 2
There are three types of successful endings in Frostpunk, depending on your decisions:
- Path of Reconciliation - you bring peace, and everyone loves you.
- Path of Banishment - you expel rebel factions from the city.
- Path of Order - you rule as a dictator with revolting factions isolated in enclaves.
You can play the same way most of the game and still choose your path with slight modifications to your playstyle. But I suggest you roleplay to make the endings more meaningful. For example, try to be a good guy all the time if you want a peaceful ending. This way, you'll challenge yourself to fight for ideals instead of choosing research and laws that simply make your play easier. The same goes for other paths: militant (Path of Order) or Machiavellistic (Path of Banishment).
Path of Reconciliation ending
Path of Reconciliation is the utopian ending in which everyone is happy. To achieve this, focus on making citizens happy and avoid everything that would lead to their suffering. Nurture their needs and give them liberty to do what they desire.
Early game
- Focus on positive politics - Your goal is to have the best possible relationship with factions and colonies.
- Avoid aggressive laws and research - Avoid harsh policies that damage your reputation and relationships with city factions.
- Focus on heat and food - This is given, but double down on ensuring the city has a stable supply of heat and food to avoid unrest and maintain morale.
Mid game
- Maintain a positive approach in politics - Try making everyone happy without using severe politics that punish citizens.
- Be a good guy - Make sure everyone has everything they need. Even with limited resources, don't use extreme measures that will cause people to suffer. Your goal is a long-term benefit for citizens, not a short-term economic boost.
- Balance your resources - Spread your investments so all industries are on the same development level to ensure your citizens have everything they need for a nice post-apocalyptic life.
End Game
- Concentrate on peace - Solve faction hostilities civilly. It's easier said than done, but avoiding bloodshed and war is the only way to achieve a happy ending.
- Maintain your reputation - You can only influence factions if they respect you. You need their goodwill to vote on laws to avoid civil war or end it swiftly.
- Maintain a stable population - To ensure everything works as planned, ensure your city has a healthy and growing population with enough heat, food, and goods.
Path of Banishment ending
To achieve the Path of Banishment ending in Frostpunk 2, you'll need to prioritize isolation and survival of the fittest while ignoring progress. You want to destroy everyone who's doesn't want peace (kill, detain, banish).
Early Game
- Focus on maintaining rule - Having a militia is always a good thing.
- Expand in Frostlands - Embrace the snow and look for opportunities to expand. You'll need a colony later when you decide to banish all who oppose you.
- Pick a favorite faction - Make one or two similar factions happy while ignoring others, as "you don't like them."
Mid Game
- Make your favorite factions happy - Go with the flow, research, and force laws they like.
- Avoid unrest - Deal swiftly with unrest by sending the police. This will lead to the decision to banish factions you don't like.
End Game
- Maintain discipline in districts - You'll also need prisons or outdoor detention to deal with those who oppose you.
- Deport all who oppose you to Windward Moor - End the war by sending losing factions to Windward Moor, where life is harsh (to put it mildly).
Path of Order ending
Path of Order is the most extreme way but also the most logical in this dystopian society. Instead of spreading democracy or banishing people, which you could use in factories, you'll solve problems with a firm hand. You'll become a dictator where everyone must listen to you, or else. They may not be as happy, but they'll live.
Early Game
- Industrialize your economy - You need efficient industry at the cost of citizen's happiness.
- Choose research types that improve efficiency - Your workforce in Frostpunk 2 primarily exists to improve the city. Ignore their demands for art or similar time-wasting ideas.
- Invest in security - Take down crime and everyone who opposes you.
Mid Game
- Control citizens - Lack of free will means security and order. Less fun and more work means no criminal activities and anti-Stewart ideas.
- Further improving industrialization - More mechanized factories mean more resources. Also, having robots patrol the streets will eliminate crime.
End Game
- Defeat all who oppose you - Build prisons and have Guard Squads to help you control districts and maintain order and an efficient society. This will help you end the Civil War efficiently in New London.
- Become a Captain - Pass the Captain's Authority law to get absolute power. This will allow you to create enclaves where you'll move all factions that opposed your rule.
