Fear the dark in Amnesia: The Bunker

We're wearing our brown pants.

2023 appears to be the year of horror. We're just out of January with the release of the Dead Space remake and have the Resident Evil 4 remake coming in March. Now, horror takes a turn from survival to psychological with the announcement of Amnesia: The Bunker.

The announcement trailer shows off very little. Armed with a mechanical flashlight and a stopwatch, a WWI soldier navigates a dimly lit bunker where it becomes clear he isn't alone. Amnesia: The Bunker was initially slated for a March 2023 release but has been pushed back to May 16, 2023.

The latest entry in the psychological horror series puts players in the boots of Henri Clement, a French soldier left behind by his battalion. Left alone in an abandoned bunker, Henri must contend with a horrific creature and the myriad of traps left behind.

Amnesia: The Bunker boasts what the publisher calls an "unscripted environment" where objects, threats, and resources change with each playthrough. Armed with a pistol and limited ammunition, defeating the creature isn't likely. Instead, Henri must hope to keep one step ahead if he's to escape alive. Along the way, players will discover more about Henri and his story. Here's hoping it doesn't involve a grisly end.
