Merge spells together in the playtest for roguelite An Amazing Wizard, early signups begin now

What spells will you create?

An Amazing Wizard is a fast-paced action roguelite that didn't quite make it on Kickstarter. Despite this, the team at Tiny Goblins has continued to provide updates to the backers that were interested, and released a demo of the game shortly after their Kickstarter failed.

The prologue (also known as playtest) to An Amazing Wizard will drop on Steam on August 22, 2024. This is an incredible feat, considering that there are just two people working to develop it - the founder, Jakub Dąbrowski, and Ivan David Fernández Morantes; a pixel artist.

The prologue to An Amazing Wizard will be completely free for fans to play, and there are new features that weren't accessible in the demo.

Those playing the prologue will be able to explore the new Ancient Desert world, which is a brand-new map with never-seen-before enemies like thunder spirits and mummies. You'll have to strategize how to beat these new monsters as the Wizard, especially as they both use fast attacks that can take you out with ease. As a fair warning to anyone reading, thunder spirits can duplicate themselves near you, and mummies can use a ranged attack with their bandages.

There are also new bosses and elites for you to face in the prologue of An Amazing Wizard.

One of the main elements added to An Amazing Wizard for the prologue is the ability "Spell Merge." Players will be able to take spells to the Spellweaver and merge them up to five times, allowing you to create your own unique spells for your wizard to use.

For example, if you take the spell Lesser Fireball (which creates a magic ball that sets your enemy on fire) and add Gravity Zone (which holds an enemy in place) you can create a spell that holds an enemy while you set them on fire.

Alienware will be hosting a free preview playtest on August 2, 2024. You'll need to visit their site to gain early access, but nothing is available right now. I'll update this post as soon as the link is live.

Just before the release of An Amazing Wizard, Tiny Goblins will also be opening a playtest for fans to try out the game. You can already request access to the playtest on Steam. Make sure to join the devs on Discord to stay updated as well.
