Apex Legends How to Get Apex Coins, Legend Tokens, & Crafting Metals

We're taking a look at how-to obtain the variety of currencies in Apex Legends.

Our Apex Legends How-to Get Apex Coins, Legend Tokens, and Crafting Metals Guide will walk you through how you obtain all of the currency in the game! We'll also go over the fastest and best ways of obtaining each of these currencies if a method exists.

Apex Legends is a free-to-play game, and with games of this nature you should be well aware by now that there will be a variety of currencies available to earn and purchase. These currencies are used to unlock or craft certain cosmetics that can be found in the game. It is important to note that these cosmetics are COMPLETELY OPTIONAL and give no advantage to players in the game. It is nice if you want to make purchases to support the developers, but be careful with the random nature of the packs that can start to feel a bit like gambling and can be addictive to some.

How-to Get Apex Coins

Apex Coins are the main paid for currency in the game. What this means is that you'll need to purchase these with real money to obtain them. Now that the first Battle Pass has been announced, it looks like you will be able to earn some coins through leveling it up!

You can purchase these coins through Amazon if you don't want to go through the game itself. These can be purchased as a code as well, so you can give them to your friends or family as a gift! Use this link to purchase through, and it helps support the site!

Here's a look at the costs of each of the Apex Coins Packs in USD:

Apex Coins Prices

If you are planning on purchasing some of these, it's generally always better to purchase in bulk so you gain a bigger bonus. Don't purchase 1,000 at a time if you can void it!

  • 1,000 Apex Coins: $9.99 USD
  • 2,150 Apex Coins: $19.99 USD
  • 4,350 Apex Coins: $39.99 USD
  • 6,700 Apex Coins: $59.99 USD
  • 11,500 Apex Coins: $99.99 USD

What Can You Purchase With Apex Coins?

The main thing you can purchase with Apex Coins is Apex Packs. These give you three different cosmetics from the huge pool of options. This is also the only way to get Crafting Metals that allow you to craft whatever skin or cosmetic you'd like.

The biggest thing people are looking for right now is the Wraith Heirloom. She is currently the only Legend with an Heirloom set right now, and it can only be obtained by opening Apex Packs. It's a pretty rare drop though, but on the bright side (?) you are guaranteed to open it within your first 500 Apex Packs.

Apex Packs
  • 1 Apex Pack: 100 Apex Coins
  • 10 Apex Packs: 1,000 Apex Coins

Apex Coins can also be used to purchase specific skins that show up in the store. These aren't exclusive store skins, you can craft them with Crafting Metals, but this gives you an additional way to purchase them.

You can also see from the weapon skins, if you purchase a certain skin it unlocks the ability to purchase an alternate version of the skin with Legend Tokens. Those are the currency you earn by playing the game.

You also use the Apex Coins for purchasing a Season of the Battle Pass. Two options are available to you, the first one will cost you 950 Apex Coins and will unlock the standard Battle Pass. The second option is the Battle Pass Bundle which will set you back 2,800 Apex Coins. This bundle gives you the Battle Pass, but also unlocks your next 25 levels for the Season instantly!

Finally, you can also purchase Legends in the store. There are only two available at the moment: Caustic and Mirage. You don't have to use Apex Coins on them, because they are purchasable with Legend Tokens as well. Each Legend can be purchased for 750 Apex Coins.

How-to Get Legend Tokens

Legend Tokens are the currency most players will be most familiar with. You earn these by playing the game and leveling up. For each level you earn, you get 600 Legend Tokens. Leveling up early on is relatively quick, and if you play a few hours of day you should be able to gather up enough of these to unlock one of the Legends pretty fast.

What Can You Purchase With Legend Tokens?

The main thing to purchase with Legend Tokens are locked Legends. There are currently two right now (Caustic and Mirage), and they can be obtained for 12,000 Legend Tokens. That means you'll have to get to level 20 in-game to earn the required tokens for one of the Legends, and get to level 40 to get the other one.

The other thing you can purchase is the alternative skins shown above in the Apex Coins areas. If you purchase or own a particular skin, you will be able to unlock an alternative coloring of that skin for some Legend Tokens.

How-to Get Crafting Metals

Crafting Metals are the material you use to create various skins in the game. It can only be obtained in one way, and that's opening Apex Packs. Unfortunately, there's no other current way to get this currency. You can get Apex Packs by purchasing them with Apex Coins, or leveling up in the game!

  1. Thank you, this was very helpful.

  2. But I really like Apex tokens and what else when I paid the hundred dollar one it didn’t come up

    1. You’d have to talk to the game’s support: https://help.ea.com/en/apex-legends/apex-legends/

  3. Is there any way to know how much you have to level up to get a apex pack? Id like the idea of getting packs by playing without having to buy coins. Maybe by how many legendary coins you earn?

    1. I’m not aware of a way to know that unfortunately.

  4. You get one at 23 and one at 43

  5. I’m level 21 and only have 10800 legend tokens not enough for a new legend.

    1. Likewise. Think I’m L21 or 22, but not enough yet to unlock a new legend.

    2. That’s strange, I’ll have to look into it a bit. My numbers might be off.
