Apex Legends How to Get Apex Coins, Legend Tokens, & Crafting Metals

Here's a breakdown of how different currencies work in Apex Legends.

In Apex Legends, players will come across various currency systems, which include Apex Coins, Legend Tokens, and Crafting Metals. You will need to understand how these currencies work to purchase or unlock unique weapon and Legend cosmetics. Apex Legends is a free-to-play game, and while these cosmetics offer no in-game advantage, it allows players to stand out in the crowd.

You will get a ton of free cosmetics simply by completing challenges and leveling up your account. Purchasing items is completely optional in Apex Legends, and we recommend players spend wisely. Here's everything you need to know about the currencies in Apex Legends.

How to get Apex Coins in Apex Legends

Apex Coins are the primary currency in the game, and it is purchased with real-world money. Players will need to purchase them from specific platforms. For instance, you can do it via Steam, PlayStation Store, Origin, and Xbox. Players can also buy Apex Legends gift cards from Amazon. Similarly, you can also purchase codes to gift to friends. The discounted prices in the image above are due to EA Play subscription, and players can always subscribe to EA Play to get Apex Coins at lower prices. Here's a look at the price distribution for each of the Apex Coins Packs in USD:

  • 500 Apex Coins: $4.99 USD
  • 1,000 Apex Coins: $9.99 USD
  • 2,150 Apex Coins: $19.99 USD
  • 4,350 Apex Coins: $39.99 USD
  • 6,700 Apex Coins: $59.99 USD
  • 11,500 Apex Coins: $99.99 USD

What can you purchase with Apex Coins?

You can use Apex Coins to purchase Legend outfit bundles, weapon skins, Emotes, and other cosmetics in the in-game Store. Similarly, you can also purchase Apex Packs with Apex Coins. Players purchasing the Battle Pass will also need to spend Apex Coins. Each Apex Pack costs around 100 Apex Coins, and players will get a chance to unlock Heirloom Shards within their first 500 Apex Packs.

You can also unlock new Legends by spending Apex Coins, although we recommend players use Legend Tokens. You can purchase each Legend for 750 Apex Coins. As for the Apex Legends Battle Pass, there are two options available to players. The Premium Tier option will cost you 950 Apex Coins and unlock the standard Battle Pass. The second option is the Premium Bundle which will cost 2,800 Apex Coins. This bundle gives you the Battle Pass and instantly unlocks your next 25 levels for the Season!

How to get Legend Tokens in Apex Legends

Legend Tokens are one of the most frequent currencies players will get to collect in Apex Legends. You can earn this by simply leveling up your account level. Players get 600 Legend Tokens for each level they earn. Legend Tokens are primarily used to unlock new Legends. At the same time, you can use it to purchase specific cosmetic recolors. Players will often find a cosmetic item in the Store that you can purchase with Apex Coins and Legend Tokens.

What can you purchase with Legend Tokens?

Unlocking Legends is the primary purpose of Legend Tokens. You can essentially unlock Legends you do not own with this currency. Similarly, you can purchase alternative skins and recolors of specific cosmetics from the Store. For instance, if you own a specific skin, you will be able to unlock an alternative coloring of that skin for some Legend Tokens.

How to get Crafting Metals in Apex Legends

Crafting Metals are the material you use to craft and unlock various cosmetics in the game. It can only be obtained in one way, and that's by opening Apex Packs. Unfortunately, there's no other current way to get this currency. The default skins under a Legend's tab feature all cosmetics purchased with Crafting Metals. You can also do the same and craft different cosmetics for weapon skins in the Loadout section.

What can you purchase with Crafting Metals?

Crafting Metals are exclusively used for crafting cosmetics. You can use these to craft Weapon Skins, Legend Skins, Banner Frames & Poses, Intro & Kill Quips, and Finishers. There are many options for each style, and you can purchase them for each of the Legends.
