Wattson on Flashpoint

Flashpoint glitch prevents red Evo Shields from getting passive regen with Wattson in Apex Legends

Passive regeneration for Wattson cut short at the Heirloom-tier shield in Flashpoint LTM.

The Unshackled Event brought back a well-loved Limited Time Mode (LTM) called Flashpoint. In Flashpoint, there are no shield cells, syringes, shield batteries, or medkits. This makes playing a character with healing abilities or any sort of passive regeneration extremely vital to playing the game. One of the best characters to play in Flashpoint is Wattson due to her ability to charge her team’s shields with her ultimate and herself via a passive shield regen (the Spark of Genius ability).

Normally, Spark of Genius works across all Evo Shield levels, and that is still the case with the usual game modes in the current build, such as Trios and Duos, however: there is an issue with her regeneration when certain factors are combined. If you are playing the Flashpoint LTM, and you have a red-tier (Heirloom Level 5) shield, the passive regen no longer activates.

We recreated several scenarios across multiple games to confirm this, though there is no confirmation it will happen every single time. In our experience, we could not get a red shield to heal with Spark of Genius while playing Flashpoint. White, blue, and purple shields heal normally. The only way that we currently know of to keep the passive going is to switch to a lower-tier shield. If you experience this and a teammate has a lower-tier shield, it may be best to switch with them.
