How the Capture Bonuses Timed Event works in Control Apex Legends

Own the Zone, get the bonus.

Timed Events are a big part of what makes Control a fun mode to play in Apex Legends. These events occur throughout a match and can quickly shift the tides, especially with the Capture Bonuses Timed Event. Capture Bonuses basically put a random bounty on one of the three claimable Zones. Only one Zone will have the Capture Bonus during the event.

Claiming the Bonus

The team that owns the Zone when the Capture Bonus time window ends is the team that gets the extra points awarded. This means it doesn’t matter who owns the Zone longer during a Capture Bonuses Timed Event, only who has it last. Storming in and taking the Zone towards the end of the time frame can be a great strategy here.

If the Capture Bonus falls on the middle Zone (B), you can also use the commotion as a distraction and instead choose to storm the opposing team’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) if you don’t already own it. Sometimes not going for the bonus is the right thing to do in the long run, but the extra points sure are nice.
