What is included in the Apex Legends next-gen update?

Next-gen improvements!

The next-gen update has launched alongside the Warrior Collection Event in Apex Legends, adding improvements for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The next-gen update includes 4K output, full 60 Hz gameplay, and HDR support. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X update also includes higher resolution shadow maps and a greater level of detail distances.

Although the Xbox Series S does not benefit from the improved shadow maps and LOD distances, the 4K output and 60 Hz gameplay is a huge upgrade. The next-gen update is live and should download automatically on Xbox consoles, but PlayStation players will have to download the update manually.

To download the next-gen update on PlayStation 5:

  1. Go to the Apex Legends tile and select Options.
  2. Select Choose Version and download the next-gen version.
  3. Once complete, delete the PS4 version to launch the next-gen version.

The next-gen update going live at the start of the Warriors Collection Event is exciting for next-gen console players. The Warriors Collection Event includes the LTM Control featuring the new Caustic Takeover map, cosmetics, and Crypto's Heirloom.
