There are a lot of moving pieces that can be hard to pin down when attempting to study Apex Legends lore. One of the most common questions fans have is when the current game takes place. Understandably, they don't want to wade through pages of content for a simple answer. We've got you covered with this quick and helpful guide on time in Apex Legends.
Apex Legends Lore - Timeline and Backstory
What year is it in Apex Legends?
Apex Legends starts its lore timeline in the early 2730s, with early seasons taking place in 2733. Reflecting back on the timeline of Titanfall 2, we see that it was set in 2715. This gives a little over 15 years for the development of events that lead to Apex Legends. The first seven seasons of Apex Legends take place in 2733 and seasons eight through 12 are set in 2734.
What year do the Apex Games start?
The first Apex Games start in the year 2729. There are several other important events that take place during this year. Most important to Apex players, Wattson finishes engineering the technology for The Ring in 2729. It is also the year that Wattson's father, Luc Paquette, dies (about four weeks before Wattson finishes the ring). This year is essentially the starting point of characters and storylines colliding to create the current layout of Apex Legends. In years past, the details are still too fragmented to see the contemporary Apex world reflected.
What year will Apex Legends finish?
We don't have any information regarding the end of Apex Legends, nor are we able to determine how long the game will take in their world's time. It's even possible that Apex Legends could adopt non-linear storytelling in the future, which could mean going backward in time. With there being no confirmation surrounding this, it is pure speculation until further notice. It seems very possible that Apex Legends could have many more in-game years in its future.
