Best dinosaurs to tame in ARK Survival Ascended

Which dino is your favorite?

You can enjoy ARK: Survival Ascended solo or with friends, but you can't play it without creatures that roam the map. They're essential for your success, which is why you must know who the best dinosaurs to tame in ARK Survival Ascended (ASA) are.

Top 5 dinosaurs to tame in ARK Survival Ascended (ASA)

This is a list of the best dinosaurs to tame in ARK Survival Ascended that can be used on The Island map. (ASA is currently in early access with only one map available.) Also, as this is a list of dinos, I didn't want to mix apples and oranges by putting mammals in there. Hence, mammoths had to go.

5. Stegosaurus

Consider Stegosaurus, a colossal mule that's invaluable for carrying much stuff across the map. While I appreciate its tale attacks, that's not the most important trait. Thanks to their immense health, Stegosaurus can carry a ton and are very hard to take down. You won't go to war with them, but it sure will be easier to prepare for one.

4. Ankylosaurus

Not all dinos in ASA are needed for combat, and Ankylosaurus is one of them. While they look tough with their spikey armor, they're too small for serious fights. But what they lack in combat, they make up in mining. Ankylosaurus is very efficient in digging precious metals, while his armor and spikey tail are often enough to fend off attackers.

3. Therizinosaurus

You can't have a list of the best dinosaurs to tame in ARK Survival Ascended without mentioning the popular Therizinosaurus. These giant dinos can harvest wood, thatch, and berries very quickly with long claws. They're also decent fighters, as you know if you ever played any ARK game. Therizinosauruses are more difficult to tame than Ankylosauruses, but it's worth the trouble.

2. Quetzal

Quetzal is the largest flying creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. I always prefer "dino birds" as they can take you whenever you wish. Besides bringing air superiority, Quetzal is so big it allows you to unmount and stand on its back, using all of your weapon arsenal.

1. Rex

The Rex is my favorite in ARK: Survival Ascended, and it's pretty obvious why. Aside from the fact it's cool to ride a Tyrannosaurus rex, this dinosaur is a superb offensive threat, and a powerful predator that can deal with most other creatures. It is also vital that this creature is relatively easy to tame, making it a popular choice for many players.
