Gathering Silk should be a top priority when you start playing the Ark Scorched Earth Ascended DLC. This valuable resource is essential for crafting items like Tents, Whips, and Desert Cloth armor, which is why I will guide you through the various ways to collect Silk in this expansion.
How to farm Silk in Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth
While exploring the game, I came across two effective methods to acquire Silk in Ark Survival Ascended Scorched Earth.
- Obtain Silk by defeating Lymantria
- Harvest white or purple flowers to get Silk
Let me break down each method separately to help you grasp how the Silk farming process works and what obstacles I faced during my adventure.
Where to find Lymantria in Ark Survival Ascended
Lymantria, also known as Desert Moth, is a flying creature that players often use to traverse the vast deserts. After the Scorched Earth DLC, these creatures can drop Silk when you defeat them.
To get started, head to the new Scorched Earth island and make your way to the elevated areas where you can easily spot a Lymantria. Once you see this critter, use a long-range weapon like an arrow or a gun to take it down. Once the Lymantria’s corpse falls on the ground, use your Metal Hatchet tool to harvest Silk from its body. However, make sure to deal with heat stroke and maintain your Hyperthermia level while hunting for the Lymantria.

Harvest White or Purple Flowers locations in Ark Survival Ascended
If you want to avoid disturbing the Scorched Earth island’s wildlife, then I suggest harvesting white or purple flowers. You can easily find these flowers in various biomes, such as the desert, the swamp, and the redwoods.
To harvest them, you can use your hand, a whip, or a creature. Using your hand will give you a small amount of Silk, but it is the most accessible method. At the same time, a whip will increase your chances of getting more Silk, but it will also consume durability.
Finally, creatures like Theo will give you the most Silk, but it will also require taming and feeding the creature. To use a creature, you need to use its secondary attack on the purple flowers.
Depending on the method you use, you can get anywhere from 1 to 1000 silk per flower. However, the amount of Silk you get is not guaranteed every time, so you may need to harvest multiple flowers to get enough Silk for your needs.
