Best 15 Mods for Balatro

To run mods on Balatro, you need to install something to run the mods. I used Steamopollys' Steammoder, which can be downloaded from their GitHub.

15 - Speedrun Timer

This Speedrunner Timer is perfect because it starts automatically as soon as you enter the game and will end as soon as the run does. The total elapsed time will be shown beneath the "Most Played Hand" on the information screen at the end of the game. It was created by MathisFun_ on the official Discord server.

14 - Green Seal

This Mod adds a Green Seal and the Ancillary Spectral Card to Balatro. The Ancillary Spectral Card is used to place the Green Seal on any card in your hand. When a card with the Green Seal is discarded, players will increase their hand size for the round by 1.

13 - Balatro Re;Shuffled

XenoCHeart's Balatro Re;Shuffled mod changes the appearance of all cards, blinds, and vouchers. This is specifically a texture pack, so the abilities of all of the game's items remain the same. Some of the highlights include Goku-themed vouchers, a Luigi Joker, and even an appearance from Sly Cooper on the Sly Joker card.

12 - Colorblind Friendly Four-Color Cards Pack

This pack was created by fridaywitch on the official Balatro discord. It changes the colors of the card suits to make them more useful for people who are colorblind. The Spade suit is black, the Heart suit is a slightly purple-pink, the Club suit is a deep purple, and the Diamond suit is green. Make sure to download the third version of the mod for the best results.

11 - Mika's Balatro Mod Collection

MikaSchoenmakers' Balatro Mod pack is one of the more well-known ones out there. It features six playable decks themed on different types of Jokers, including one that requires usage of mainly Negative Jokers. Mika's collection also contains 11 new Joker cards to go along with these decks. I would highly recommend this pack for those new to modding, as it contains everything you need for a new look at Balatro in one small package.

10 - Dice Deck

This deck was described by creator Blackbando as "Oops! All 6s but as a deck". Every card with a probability will have double the chance for that outcome to come true. For a truly wild time, it can be combined with the "Oops! All 6s" Joker card to make the probabilities even higher. The Dice Deck begins with one copy of the Magician and can be found at the end of the game's deck list.

9 - JankJonklers

JankJonklers was created by spikeof2010 and adds 15 new Jokers to the game. Each of these cards has very unique effects. One is called "Suspicious Vase" and turns 2's, 3's, and 4's into Glass Cards. Another, called the "Ternary System", gives you a planet card when you play a Three of a Kind with no other cards present. Adding these new Jokers in is a great way to spice up a Balatro run without straying too far from the original game.

8 - SixSuits

The SixSuits mod by Aurelius7309 adds the Stars and Moons suits to the game. These suits can be used in regular versions of the game, but not in any challenges. With the introduction of these two suits comes new hand types and the ability to make a Five-of-a-kind hand. It's a great way to make the game more challenging without adding new Jokers, Tarots, or Spectral Cards to memorize.

7 - Balatro Fold Button

The Balatro Fold Button is a quality-of-life mod by happinyz that allows you to fold your hand and immediately exit the run. The fold button can be found at the bottom of the in-game menu. Pressing it will take you to a "Game Over" screen containing all of your statistics just as if you had lost, which won't happen if you exit the run manually. I recommend combining it with the Better Mouse and Gamepad mod for easier in-game controls.

6 - Taikomochi

The Taikomochi mod by Amvoled adds "Zen Mode" to the game. Zen Mode allows players to continue playing the same run, with the option to restart the ante they are on if they lose. It's great for practicing using a specific deck or beating a certain Boss Blind, especially since it can be used with any specific seed. To activate Zen Mode, check its box to the right of the play button and then start the game as usual.

5 - BalatrOverlay

BalatrOverlay was created by cantlookback to make playing Balatro a little bit easier. While it is still a work in progress, the mod can be used to see what hands you can currently play. If you get tunnel vision like me, you'll want to give it a try.

4 - JellyMod

If you wish Balatro had a few more cards, JellyMod is the mod for you! It was created by jamesthejellyfish and adds 17 new Jokers to the game plus reversed versions of all of the tarot cards. The reversed tarot cards have the opposite effects of their original version, just like a regular deck of tarot cards. The reversed tarot cards and the 17 Jokers can be downloaded separately if you'd only like one or the other. However, downloading the mod pack containing both will also give you 10 new challenges to try out.

3 - LushMod

Lusciousdev's LushMod is another Balatro Mod that adds in new Jokers. This pack adds 10 Jokers matching the art style and effects of the game's original cards. The new Jokers include the Cloud Wizard, which gives $1 when using a tarot card, and The Trickster, which rerolls the Joker to the right into a new Joker of the same rarity. Combine it with JellyMod and other similar mods to create hundreds of new Joker combinations!

2 - Better Mouse and Gamepad

I find this mod to be a must-have for PC players. Better Mouse and Gamepad was created by Kooluve to do exactly as the name implies. It allows players to use their mouse or gamepad to easily select, place, and discard cards while playing. It maps controls specifically to the right mouse button, the center mouse button, and the two side buttons. Pressing the center mouse wheel button will take you to the menu while scrolling it up or down will help you play and discard cards. You'll also be able to quickly select cards by holding the right mouse button and hovering over them. It's a great quality-of-life mod for any Balatro player. The creator lists all of the available controls in the GitHub link.

The YippeeGameOver mod by Mysthaps transforms the sarcastic joker card at the end of runs into TBH! There's nothing better than completing a difficult run and hearing TBH's "Yippee!" blast through your speakers in victory.
