Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) Faith Leap Trial Walkthrough

The Gauntlet of Shar is a series of difficult challenges in Baldur's Gate 3. As the name suggests, the Faith-Leap Trial asks you to put your faith in Shar as you traverse over a dark chasm. The path is there, you just can't see it...or can you? It took me a few tries, but I soon realized that the secret to the Faith-Leap Trial was right in front of me the whole time. Here's how to beat it.

Faith Leap Trial Location in Baldur's Gate 3

The Faith-Leap Trial in Baldur's Gate 3 is located north of the Gauntlet of Shar Waypoint at X:-751 Y:-727. Go past the Self-Same Trial and head down the stairs; you'll find it behind a set of doors to your right.

When you enter the trial, have a member of your party complete the blood sacrifice to Shar at the altar—preferably Shadowheart if you want to earn her approval. From here, you'll need to walk across the dark chasm and reach a platform at the back, where the Umbral Gem you need lies.

How to Beat the Faith Leap Trial in Baldur's Gate 3

Though the steps might be invisible at first, there are actually two ways you can figure out where they are. The first is to move your party away from the altar and back toward the entrance of the room; make sure they're facing away from the chasm. If you do this, you'll be able to see the faint, shadowy outline of the path you need to take. However, this outline will vanish when you turn back around.

The second way is to look at the floor in front of Shar's altar (pictured above). There's a map of the entire path right under your feet! As long as you follow this map, you'll be able to reach the other side of the chasm safely. Keep in mind that falling will teleport you back to the start, and your third fall will kill your character.

Here are all the steps I took to beat the Faith-Leap Trial in Baldur's Gate 3:

• Go down the stairs on the right side of the altar. Stand roughly in the center at X:-766 Y:-720.
• Walk straight forward, stopping a short distance in front of the rightmost platform, at X:-772 Y:-720.
• Walk left until you're aligned with Shar's altar at X:-772 Y:-727.
• Walk forward, and stop just before you're aligned with the corners of the platforms, at X:-781 Y:-727.
• Take a couple of steps to the right, stopping at X:-781 Y:-727.
• Walk forward and stop a short distance from the center platform, at X:-785 Y:-727.
• Walk right until you're just past the corner of the rightmost platform, at X:-785 Y:-722.
• Walk forward until you're aligned with the middle of the center platform, at X:-791 Y:-722.
• Walk right until you're aligned with the statue on the rightmost platform, at X:-791 Y:-720.
• Walk forward until you're a short distance past the center platform, at X:-798 Y:-720.
• Take a couple of steps to the left. Stop at X:-798 Y:-722.
• Take a couple of steps forward, stopping at X:-801 Y:-722.
• Take a couple of steps to the left, stopping just before you're in line with the corner of the center platform, at X:-801 Y:-724.
• Walk forward until you reach the corner of the back platform. Then, walk diagonally onto it.

Finishing the Faith Leap Trial

To complete the Faith-Leap Trial, simply collect the Umbral Gem from the statue of Shar, then interact with the Umbral Transporter it was sitting on. This will take you back to the entrance to the trial, where you can regroup with your party and continue exploring.
