The latest Dungeons and Dragons adventure is out, and it's using the latest rule set 5th Edition. Acclaimed Larian Studios are the ones behind the latest story-driven adventure game, and it's not surprising they are up to the task, because both Divinity Original Sin games were amazing! In many story games, not liking how your character has progressed happens more often than not. Or perhaps, the class you chose doesn't meld with your playstyle. In Baldur's Gate 3, is there any way to reset my character's abilities? Can I respec at all?
Can you respec in Baldur's Gate 3?
Sadly, there is no way to respec currently. It's not surprising this isn't an option, as in the prequels, Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2, respeccing was not an option either. Players had to live with their builds, or start again and test out new ones.
At the moment, all levels up and choices made to your build are completely final. The only way you can get around this is by creating saves every time you level up, and naming the saves something you'll remember. Otherwise, keep a journal, and write the saves down with information so that you can keep track of it all. This is the only way around it.
Thanks to a Steam Community Update, a Q and A was held, and a question on respeccing was brought up.
Q .Will the respec option be a one time thing or will it follow us through the game? Can we respec classes and races?
A. We’re still trying out different ways of introducing respec so you’ll need to have a bit of patience before we’ll answer that question.
So a form of resetting is in the works, how they'll go about that is unsure. Will it come to early access? Or will it be available for all when the game is officially released? Will it be a one time use, or will you be able to use it multiple times? There's still a plethora of questions that need answers, but at this present time, at least we know that something is in the works.
