Baldur's Gate 3 is a story-driven RPG where you will find plenty of companions, one of which is Karlach—a Zariel Tiefling Barbarian. If you want to complete Karlach's line of quests or romance her, you must have the Infernal Iron in your inventory. Acquiring this rare metal can be difficult without its precise locations. Here's how you can find the Infernal Iron and how you can use it in Baldur's Gate 3.
Infernal Iron Locations in Baldur's Gate 3
In Baldur's Gate 3, there are six known spots where you can find Infernal Iron.
Blighted Village
This is one of the first locations where you will come across the Infernal Iron, but beware of the many goblins, which you'll have to pacify by selecting the right dialogues or with combat. Once you are in this location, go to the Northernmost house and head to the basement to find a chest along with a ladder beside it. (You might want to avoid opening this chest, as it will explode.) Climb the ladder to find another locked chest with the Infernal Iron (X:435 Y:371). To unlock it, use Thieves' Tools.

Shattered Sanctum
This is another spot located within the Goblin camp. Once again, you will have to either defeat Goblins or choose the right dialogues.
You will find a chest in the Sanctum (X:295 Y:67), but it will be locked. There are a few ways to get the key to unlock it, one of which is to use Astarion. Make him invisible and have him steal the key from Dror Ragzlin, or use his lockpick ability to unlock the chest. But if you don't have such a companion with you, prepare to defeat Dror Ragzlin to get the key and unlock the chest. Inside the chest, you will find plenty of valuables, including Infernal Iron.
Gauntlet of Shar
The Gauntlet of Shar is a dungeon home to plenty of puzzles, but also Infernal Iron. All you need to do is solve the puzzles until you find Balthazar—a necromancer who protects the dungeon. Once you defeat him, you will find a chest nearby (X:651 Y:254). Upon unlocking the chest, you will find Infernal Iron.
There is another way to get the Infernal Iron while you are at this location: finding Yurgir and convincing him to eliminate himself. If you are able to do that through dialogue then the Infernal Iron is all yours.
Zhentarim Hideout
The Zhentarim Hideout is located at Waukeen's Rest, inside a wine cellar. You will reach this hideout by completing the Find the Missing Shipment quest during Act 1. In this quest, you will need to save the two people trapped in a cave by the gnolls at Risen Road. After you save them, you will be invited to the hideout, and given a passcode to enter: little serpent, long shadow. After this, you can roll the dice and intimidate Rugan to let you have the chest.
You can unlock the chest with Lockpicking, in turn acquiring Iron Flask, but I suggest you take it to the Hideout and give it to Zarys, the Zhentarim leader. Zarys will reward you with gold and a rare crossbow for your honesty.
Once you are inside the Hideout, head north, where you will find two locked doors. However, beware of the wolves and guards as they can attack you. After this, open the door on the right side and lockpick the chest on the right side which contains Infernal Iron (X:259 Y: -293).
Underdark Grymforge
To reach the Underdark, take boats from the Decrepit Village. After this, you will meet with a Duergar; either defeat or convince them you will find their boots. Now make your way to the Duergar boats, which will take you to your destination: Grymforge.
Upon arrival, pay off the Duergar guards or scare them off. Stonemaker Kith is located on the floor above the Underdark Grymforge waypoint (X:19 Y:208); interact with him and complete a series of checks. If you do so correctly, you will be rewarded with Infernal Iron.
Reithwin Masons' Guild
Reithwin Masons' Guild is a building located at the Shadow-Cursed Lands. You will find Infernal Iron placed on a table; simply head for the coordinates X:104 Y:19 to find it. Remember to equip the Moonlantern while exploring the different areas in this cursed place.
Infernal Iron Uses in Baldur's Gate 3
In Baldur's Gate 3, Karlach is a companion whose heart is an overheating infernal machine. To help her, you will need several pieces of Infernal Iron and to pay a visit to Dammon.
In Act 1 you will find Dammon at the Emerald Grove, while in Act 2, you need to head to the Last Light Inn in the Shadow-Cursed Lands. Although Dammon can use the Infernal Iron to fix Karlach, t won't be a permanent fix.
