BG3 Selune’s Spear of Night is missing

A magic spear that disappears from your inventory.

If you reached the end of Act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3, you know Shadowheart has to make a choice that has a major impact in the story. However, one of the quest endings has a bug that, as of Patch 3, hasn't been fixed yet.

When you enter the Gauntlet of Shar, Shadowheart receives a command from her goddess: she has to prove her worthiness by finishing the three trials, obtain Shar's Spear of Evening, and use it to kill the Nightsong. If you want to play the path of good, or pursue an ending that is more fulfilling for Shadowheart, you shouldn't kill the aasimar. Thankfully, there are many ways to persuade Shadowheart and make her change her mind.

If you haven't killed the Nightsong (Dame Aylin), she will show up as your ally on both fights against Ketheric. But more importantly, once you defeat him, she will appear at your camp and ask to speak with Shadowheart.

As she specifically requests for Shadowheart, many players (myself included) have opted for using Shadowheart to speak to her. However, if you do this, this will trigger a bug where the reward item Selune's Spear of Night won't ever appear on your inventory. The bug has been reported, but as of Patch 3, it hasn't been fixed.

BG3 Spear of Night bug solution

Luckily, I found a workaround to this issue: I reloaded my save game and started the conversation with Dame Aylin with my main character (while having Shadowheart in my party). This will trigger a different cut scene and give you the Spear at the end of the conversation.
