Sorcerers in Baldur's Gate 3 combine innate spellcasting ability with Metamagic options to become extremely powerful characters. I have tried all of the Sorcerer subclasses, but I found one of the strongest to be the Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer.

Building a Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer can be lots of fun, especially since you can choose elemental damage and resistance, spells, feats, and more. Here is how to build a Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer in BG3.

Best Stats for a Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer in BG3

Charisma is a Sorcerer's primary spellcasting modifier, so you should max out your Charisma when creating your character. You will want fairly high Consitution to increase your health and Concentration saving throws. Having high Dexterity will help with Initiative and AC bonuses, but you do not need to invest too much into it. Here are the best stats for a Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer:

Draconic Sorcerers benefit from elemental damage and resistances, so it is important to consider what abilities you get at each level and what spells to take to maximize your effectiveness. Here are the abilities Draconic Sorcerers unlock at each level:

As a Level 1 Draconic Sorcerer, you will unlock a damage resistance and an additional spell when you choose your Dragon Ancestry, and you will have increased AC when not wearing armor with Draconic Resilience. At Level 6 you will unlock another resistance and the ability to use your Charisma modifier when dealing damage of a certain element. For Metamagic options, you will want to take Distant Spell and Twinned Spell as your first options, then take Quickened Spell as your second option.

It is important to consider what elemental damage you will want to focus on in order to take spells with that element. Some of the most powerful builds focus on Lightning or Fire damage. For this build, we will be using Fire, as it is the most common damage type you will be hit with, so it is great to take as a resistance. Here are the best spells you can take for a Draconic Sorcerer:

While there are not too many high-level elemental spells that benefit the Draconic Sorcerer, you can always upcast spells like Fireball, Wall of Fire, or even Burning Hands to get the Charisma bonus. It is a good idea to consider what spells can be boosted by your Metamagic options as well.

Best feats for Draconic Sorcerers in BG3

The first feat you take should be the Ability Score Improvement to get your Consitution to 16 and your Charisma to 18. It is also not a bad idea to take another Ability Score Improvement to increase your Charisma to 20 later on. The best feat to take after that is Spell Sniper, so you can roll Criticals more often for targetted spells.
