The bipod attachment on your weapon deploys automatically when you go prone. It is meant to improve the recoil control and aim-sway stability of the weapon. However, you cannot move while deployed with a bipod attached to your weapon.

You can go prone by pressing Z on your keyboard. If you are using a controller, hold O or X for PlayStation and Xbox, respectively. These are the default controls and can be changed in settings.

The Bipod can be an extremely useful attachment for long-range weapons such as Sniper Rifles, Marksman Rifles, and even Light Machine Guns. While deploying, make sure you are prone on a flat surface, otherwise the Bipod may not work as expected.

As evident from the image shown above, you can add the bipod to the underbarrel section of the Plus system in Battlefield 2042. This allows you to modify the weapon you are using on the go and adapt to the given combat scenario.
