Call of Duty introduced the Carry Forward initiative during Modern Warfare 2's transition to Modern Warfare 3 and now that we are moving into Black Ops 6 we're here to explain what it means and how it will affect you.
What is the Carry Forward initiative in Black Ops 6?
Carry Forward was introduced in Modern Warfare 2 to allow players to ensure that all their weapons, blueprints, skins, and store bundles would transfer over to the next Call of Duty, allowing fans to spend money on the store without feeling their purchase was wasted as soon as the next installment arrived. Since Call of Duty is known to pump out a game every year, it is understandable that Activision wanted to put steps in place to allow as much content to be preserved as possible.
There are some downsides to this: with each new CoD game the number of weapons, skins, attachments, and more increases causing the game to become bloated. Gameplay can also be affected due to new mechanics being added to maps or modes that weren't designed with newer features in mind.
Black Ops 6 will see a limited Carry Forward initiative, so you can experience a brand new restart without losing all of your cosmetics.
Will skins, blueprints, and operator content Carry Forward to Black Ops 6 Multiplayer and Zombies?
MW2 and MW3 cosmetics and weaponry will not Carry Forward to Black Ops 6 Multiplayer and Zombies modes. This means that any of the goofy skins you have unlocked in the store or the slick weapon skins for your favorite rifle won't be usable in Black Ops 6 Multiplayer or Zombies.
Even if some weapons like the M16 or M4 appear in all three games, you will still be unable to utilize previously unlocked skins. Fans rejoiced at the news, as they were finally able to wipe the slate clean.
Will skins, blueprints, and operator content Carry Forward to Warzone?
Yes, all content earned from Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, and Black Ops 6 will all be accessible in Warzone, so for the foreseeable future, you and I will be seeing all manner of craziness in Warzone up until Black Ops releases and far beyond.
This decision is somewhat puzzling since the premier game mode has been overloaded for a while now. The sheer amount of skins, cosmetics, and ridiculously designed Teletubbies running amuck is certainly overwhelming for a long-time fan.
That's all we have on the Carry Forward initiative in Black Ops 6. If you're looking for more Call of Duty content then check out CoD Fallout bundle labeled “lazy” by fans, Black Ops 6 weapon leaks include SA87 (SA80) and LW3 Tundra (L96A1), and more on Pro Game Guides.
