How to carry two primary weapons in MW3

Time to level up!

The Overkill perk that enabled you to hold two primary weapons in Modern Warfare 2 has been taken out of Modern Warfare 3. Luckily, there's a workaround through which you can still gain the benefits of Overkill perk (i.e., carrying two primary weapons in Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer).

You can equip two primary weapons simultaneously using the Gunner Vest in Modern Warfare 3. It is one of the four vests in the game, along with the Engineer Vest, Demolition Vest, and Infantry Vest.

To unlock the Gunner Vest in Modern Warfare 3, you need to reach level 20 on your account. There are multiple ways to level up quickly, such as playing matches, completing weekly challenges, and getting kills. Once you complete the core objective, the Gunner Vest will appear under the ‘Vest Perks’ section.

If you enjoy playing aggressively and being in the thick of the action, carrying two primary weapons is a great option for you. I suggest you use an assault rifle in the first weapon slot and an SMG in the second weapon slot to maximize the effectiveness of this vest.

When you run out of ammo in one of the weapons, just switch to the other one and keep shooting, making this a lethal weapon combination for such situations.

Here are the step-by-step instructions to equip the Gunner vest in Modern Warfare 3:

  1. Go to the Weapons tab on the MW3 multiplayer screen.
  2. Pick a custom loadout that suits your preference.
  3. Tap the vest icon above the first primary weapon slot.
  4. Select either the Gunner or the Overkill vest option.
  5. Go back to your loadout and choose a second primary weapon.

Apart from the two primary weapons, the Gunner vest grants you the maximum ammo and improved reload speed. You also gain the effects of Mission Comlink if you equip it with Mag Holster.
