How to slide cancel in MW2

Slide cancel is a fan-favorite feature initially missing from Modern Warfare 2. Although not an intentionally implemented mechanic, this movement exploit allows players to play with much more fluidity and control. However, it is more challenging to cancel your slide mid-way. To do so, you will need to tweak your in-game settings and then put them into practice. This guide will tell you how to slide cancel in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Best in-game settings for slide cancel in Modern Warfare 2

You can technically perform slide cancel with default settings intact. However, a few key movement settings can be a hindrance when trying to slide cancel. The following are the in-game settings you need to change to slide cancel in Modern Warfare 2.

Controller Settings

• Click on Settings from the main menu, and then select the Controller tab.
• Scroll down until you find the Gameplay section.
• Change Weapon Mount Activation to Double-Tap ADS.

Advanced Settings

• Click on Settings from the main menu, and then select the Advanced tab.
• Scroll down until you find the Movement Behaviors section.
• Choose the following options in the Movement Behaviors section:
  • Grounded Mantle: OFF
  • Automatic Airborne Mantle: OFF
  • Automatic Grounded Mantle: OFF

How to perform a slide cancel in Modern Warfare 2

Once you have the above settings mentioned, performing a slide cancel is fairly straightforward. Simply start a tactical sprint, and then go into a slide using the Crouch button. Then, activate ADS, and simultaneously press the Jump button to exit the slide quickly. However, remember that when you ADS during a slide cancel, the weapon fire will experience a marginal delay while firing. This method might be tricky to master, but it becomes second nature with enough practice.
