Modern Warfare 2 is not immune to bugs, and that is especially true for its multiplayer mode. One of the issues players face is the inability to change MW2 characters called operators. You unlock them by playing the different game modes to use them in multiplayer matches. But with the "operator not changing" issue, you cannot select other characters even after you unlock them.
How to fix the 'operator not changing' bug in MW2
To fix the "operator not changing" in Modern Warfare 2, choose the operator multiple times until the game confirms your choice. It's a good idea also to try to reboot the system, just to make sure. In short, be stubborn and don't give up until you're successful. To prevent this issue, you can turn off the On-demand texture streaming. Here's how to change this setting:

If nothing works, your only option is to play as Fender until the matter is resolved with the patch. This is part of the more extensive Showcase, Calling Card, and Emblems not working issue, so expect a quick fix soon. Unfortunately, MW2 keeps crashing often, but the good news is that we have solutions for most of them!
