If you are installing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 for the first time, you might run into an error preventing Shader Optimization from finishing. Luckily the error that causes Shader optimization to fail is entirely fixable if you use troubleshooting steps. Here's how to fix Shader optimization in Modern Warfare 2.
Solutions to fix Shader Optimization taking forever in Modern Warfare 2
To fix shaders optimization in MW2 taking forever, you can use fixes such as restarting the game or restarting your router. However, these fixes are not guaranteed to work, and your best option is to use the Restart Shaders Optimization option. The Restart Shader Optimization option is found within the Display options tab above Sharder Optimization and Display Gamma. Using the option will restart the process for Shader Optimization and cause it to finish instead of getting stuck. But if you still get the error after using the Restart Shader Optimization, we recommend trying other smaller fixes.Â

The first small fix would be to restart your router, as your internet connection can possibly cause the error. To restart your router, pull the wires out of the router and wait around 30 seconds. After time passes, put the wires back into your pc and try restarting the Shader optimization. If this process fails, you will need to move on to the nuclear option: uninstall and reinstall Modern Warefare 2. After a fresh install, the Sharder Optimization being stuck error should stop occurring.Â
