What are Active Duty Slots in DMZ?

A new approach to infiltration in DMZ.

The Season 3 update for Call of Duty: Warzone 2 DMZ introduced some crucial changes to the PvPvE extraction-style game. Previously, players only had a single operator that they were able to bring into the exclusion zone. Now, there will be multiple operator slots to choose from, a system that aims to promote strategic plays.

How do Active Duty Operators work in DMZ?

On the left side of the Active Duty menu, you'll find the operator selection tab as shown in the first picture. Click on this tab to swap between the three active duty operators and customize your operators' skin and finishing move. Each active duty operator has their own unique gear and exfil streak, and these features don't carry over to the other operators. Gear includes backpack, killstreak, armor vest, gas mask, and self-revive kit.

For instance, if you've acquired level three gear for the first active duty operator, it stays with that operator only and can't be used for other active duty slots. You can acquire high-tier gear for the other operators by bringing them to the DMZ and equipping them with these items. All the other items such as keys, contraband weapons, and insured weapons are shared between the active duty slots. If an active duty operator dies, their gear will be lost and reverted back to standard.

If you're wondering what's the purpose of this new operator selection system, we have you covered. Suppose you have two active duty operators fully geared up and with high exfil streaks. You can save them for high-threat faction missions and Building 21 infiltrations. While the remaining slot can be used for regular DMZ gameplay.

As mentioned previously, players get three active duty operator slots available for deployment. However, there is a fourth slot in the game that can only be unlocked by purchasing the Bomb Squad bundle from the in-game store for 1200 Cod Points. This bundle comes with the EOD Specialist skin for the Fender operator and Boom Proof blueprint for the Sakin MG38 LMG.

In case you want to swap the operator for an active duty slot, you can simply dismiss the operator by pressing the X key over it. This will allow you to change the operator skin and equip one that you like. But remember, dismissing an operator end their exfil streak and resets their gear.
