How to recruit Leena in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition

Chrono Cross follows Serge, a teenage boy who becomes swept up in a story of parallel worlds and inter-dimensional threats. While attempting to uncover the truth of his past, Serge will gain many different allies to help him in his journey, each with their own rich backstories and motivations. There are a total of 45 playable characters in Chrono Cross, meaning you'll have plenty of options to form the perfect team. For this guide, we'll be looking at Arni Village's residential big sister and Serge's best friend—Leena. Here's how to recruit Leena in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition.

Where to find and recruit Leena

To recruit this sisterly companion, you'll first need to have been transported to Another World. Make your way to Cape Howl and complete the boss battle against Karsh and the Shaker Brothers, Solt and Peppor. Following the battle, Kid will offer to team up with Serge on his quest to find answers about the strange yet familiar world he finds himself in.

Refuse her offer and Kid will leave, telling Serge that she intends to head to Termina. You'll be sent back to Arni Village for the night, and in the morning Leena will automatically join your party. If Poshul hasn't been recruited before this point, she will join Serge's party alongside Leena. This is the only method for recruiting Leena, though she can still be obtained in New Game+ if you missed her on your first playthrough.

Leena's abilities

Arni's best babysitter uses a spatula and restorative techs in combat, relying on her high magic stat to deal damage. Her innate element is Blue the elemental color closely associated with water and ice, meaning she'll benefit the party most when facing off against opponents with an innate Red element. When using the MaidenHand tech, Leena imbues her hand with Blue energy before rushing forward to slap her opponent.

On the other hand, Leena has the potential to recharge any used elements when using her MaidenHeart tech, though you should keep in mind that this effect has a 33 percent chance of working when used. Leena's higher-than-average magic stat and techs make her an extremely valuable character to have on your team, so make you don't miss out on recruiting her!
