Weapons and armor are the single most important thing to get right in Destiny 2. Using the right weapon or the right piece of armor for a given situation is often so crucial to coming out on top of a boss fight or a crucible match. But besides choosing the right weapon or armor piece, it is equally as important to upgrade that piece of gear with a mod.
Mods in Destiny 2 come in all different ways. Some are only for weapons, and some are only for specific armor pieces. But to get any of these mods, you have to buy them with one of Destiny's many forms of currency: Mod Components. Here is how to get these components and where you can spend them.Â
How to Get
Currently, there is only one way to get Mod Components in Destiny 2. Head to the Tower and make your way over to the Gunsmith, Banshee-44. Here, Banshee will offer you a set of four daily bounties and additional bounties. Completing each daily bounty will reward you with XP, an Enhancement Core, and, our prize possession, two Mod Components.

Doing the additional bounties will only reward you with one Mod Component each. But remember that you can hold nine bounties from one vendor at a time, meaning you can get 13 Mod Components for completing all of them.
Where to Spend
Mod Components can be spent at two separate locations at the Tower. One is where you got them in the first place, at the Gunsmith. The other is with Ada-1 over on the left side of the Tower map. Both vendors offer two mods for sale. The mods are found under the Material Exchange tab, and you can purchase each one with 10 Mod Components. Keep in mind that these mods will rotate out every day at the daily reset time. So if you see a mod you really want, remember to pick it up sooner rather than later before it disappears.Â
