How to Beat Elias in Capstone Dungeon – Diablo 4

One last dance?

If you're looking to head into World Tier 4, the final World Tier available to you in Diablo 4, then you might be surprised to find Elias serving as the gatekeeper. Elias is a weakling compared to you, though. After all, you killed him several times throughout the campaign. What's one more time going hurt?

Unfortunately, this Elias is no slouch and can easily kill you with his flurry of new tricks. You can totally trial and error the fight and get him down after several attempts, but why do that when we've already got the fight solved for you? Here's how to beat down Elias in the final capstone dungeon of Diablo 4.

How to kill Elias in the last Capstone Dungeon of Diablo IV

This final fight with Elias requires constant movement and sufficient DPS (damage per second) due to how often he summons demons to assault you, as well as the various spells he hurls at you. The key to winning the fight is add (additional enemy) control. For most of the fight, you'll be under constant pressure from his demons. They will quickly overwhelm you if you are not killing them quickly enough.

However, the demons are likely not what will kill you in the fight. They serve more as a distraction to the real issue: Elias himself. Elias will be throwing out continuous, high-damage spells that are easy enough to dodge if you're paying attention. He has a few configurations for the spells he hurls at you, a cone spread shot, a continuous volley, and homing bolts. If any of these hit you, you will lose a ton of your health. If you don't have a lot of health already, expect to be one-shot by these spells. They are extremely dangerous. You've been warned.

If you can handle his demons and avoid his direct spell attacks, then the final hurdle to overcome is his pseudo-phase change mechanic. I use the word pseudo here because these moments emulate how a boss would change to the next phase. Shapely portions of the area will fill up with a black-reddish mist, blocking off portions of it to you unless you want to die. That is to say—you don't want to be standing in the mist. However, the demons can transverse these areas without harm, meaning that the intent of this ability to is to eliminate your ability to effectively kite them as necessary.

It is during this mechanic that it is possible to be killed off by the horde of demons assaulting you. This is why it's important to be able to kill hordes of demons quickly so that this phase isn't so difficult. I defeated Elias at level 61 on a Rogue, nine levels before you're supposed to, and the way I handled this mechanic was by abusing stealth. The phase only lasts for about 10-15 seconds, so if you can survive this, the rest is just rinse and repeat. You're welcome.
