Pray to the RNG gods.

As players gear up in Diablo 3, there will come a time when they have to roll the dice and hope RNG is on their side. One such item players will want is the Hellfire Amulet, and getting it to become an Ancient Hellfire Amulet will prove to be a test of patience.

Getting an Ancient Hellfire Amulet can only be done by first crafting a regular Hellfire Amulet. Players can purchase the recipe from Squirt the Peddler in Act 2 for 5,000,000 gold. While that might seem like a hefty price, running bounties and rifts should easily get players that type of gold.

From there, players need to collect a variety of items in order to craft the amulet. Here's a look at what's required for it.

  • 1x Leoric's Regret: Act 1 drop from Odeg, the Keywarden of Regret
  • 1x Vial of Putridness: Act 2 drop Sokahr, the Keywarden of Putridness
  • 1x Idol of Terror: Act 3 drop from Xah'Rith, the Keywarden of Terror
  • 1x Heart of Fright: Act 4 drop from Nekarat, the Keywarden of Fright
  • 10x Forgotten Souls: Currency from salvaging non-crafted Legendary items

Once all that is out, the players must count on luck. Crafting this amulet allows players to see it upgraded into an Ancient or Primal version. Ancient has a better chance than Primal, but players will almost certainly need to collect tons of the ingredients for the amulet to get the Legendary version to drop, as it's completely random. Just keep crafting it over and over until it happens.

Is the Hellfire Amulet worth it in Diablo 3?

Without question, the Hellfire Amulet is a strong item in Diablo 3, and it's undoubtedly stronger when it's an Ancient or Primal version, but the base version is also worth it. In Season 28, it's an important item because it's used to unlock the 18th seal in the Altar of Rites, but players need the Ancient version for it.

Whether it's to wear or to use as currency for a seal, the Hellfire amulet is an item players should be working toward. It could also be the missing piece for a build players are using as Season 28 treks on.
