Disney Dreamlight Valley ‘The Sands in the Hourglass’ Quest Guide

Harness the power of time with your Hourglass!

After obtaining your Royal Hourglass in the quest, 'The Flying Metal Nuisance,' you can put it to good use by searching for materials for Jafar in your next quest, 'The Sands in the Hourglass.' Here's how.

The bridge past the Ancient Gate is broken, and unfortunately, our Hourglass isn't quite powerful enough yet to fix it. First, we'll have to make a slight detour off to the right side of the bridge and use the Hourglass to break the sand spirals blocking the way to the secluded beach.

Here, you'll find another communication device to talk to Jafar on. He has another brilliant idea to help you power up your Hourglass, but you'll need to find some special materials. These materials can only be found by using your Hourglass magic ability.

How to use your Hourglass to find materials in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The first two materials you'll need are located right on the secluded beach, right in the little area near the broken statue and Time-bending Table.

To find materials using your Hourglass, press X on the Xbox and Switch, or M2 on the PC, to wave the Hourglass in the air. As you do this, an indicator will pop up in front of you, pointing you in the direction of a nearby material. If the indicator is blue it means you're still far off from it, but if the indicator is gold, it means you're close. Keep waving the Hourglass as you move to see if you're getting closer or further away, following the direction of the arrow.

When you're right on top of the material, you will automatically get caught in it, almost like when you're fishing. You will need to press A on Xbox and Switch, or M1 on PC, as fast as you can to pull the material free and collect it. If there are no more materials in that area, you will be prompted on your screen to let you know. You can move on to a new area and try again.

After finding the two materials you need at the secluded beach, you'll need to find three more materials around Ancient's Landing. This may take a few tries because not every material you find is the one you need, but keep looking around and waving the Hourglass to get what you need.

After you get all the materials you need, return to the secluded beach to speak to Jafar and you can move to the next step, which will be to repair the broken statue. You'll need to use the Time-bending Table to do so. Use the recipe found in your Inventory and then, in the Time-bending table, you can easily navigate to what you need by pressing Quest. You'll need to use your materials to make the Statue's Arms.

Once you replace the statue's arms, you will receive the special gem for your Hourglass, which will make it more powerful. You should now be able to return to the broken bridge in The Courtyard and repair it. However, you'll need Mist to do so.

Mist is essentially the same thing as Dreamlight and works just about the same way. You can earn some either by completing Mist Duties, found in the Dreamlight tab of your menu, using your Hourglass to find treasure spots, or by removing the Splinters of Fate.

You'll need 2,000 Mist to repair the bridge and open up access to the two other biomes of Eternity Isle, Glittering Dunes and Wild Tangle and complete your quest.
